Recapitators are skeletal enemies with a spiky head in Wario Land: Shake It! Their name is a blend of "decapitation", the removal of someone's head, and the prefix "re-", which denotes a return to a previous state (as in, the head is put back on). In a similar fashion to the zombies from other Wario Land games and Mekabons from Super Mario Land, Recapitators attack Wario by throwing their own heads at him, which travel in a straight path horizontally and come back like boomerangs. In their initial state, Recapitators cannot be attacked with a jump due to the spikes on their head, but fall apart when hit with a Dash Attack or Earthshake Punch and reassemble themselves after a while, similarly to Dry Bones from the Super Mario franchise. To defeat a Recapitator, Wario must attack it with a Dash Attack or Ground Pound while its head is away from the rest of the body. In doing so, the head passes the body and breaks when it hits a wall.
There are two differently-colored variants of Recapitators: gray Recapitators are completely stationary, while green Recapitators walk from side to side on a platform, stopping in place when they attack Wario. Both variants are found in the level Boogie Mansion along with a golden variant, but Large Fry Cook-Off features only the green variant. In the latter level, while a Recapitator's head is away from its body, Large Fry can destroy the head during his charging attack, which is shortly followed by the body breaking apart on its own as it waits for the head to come back.
