Mecha Kuribō is a species of robot Goombas that appeared once in chapter 4 of Super Mario-kun Volume 13. Despite the name, they look like robotic versions of a Paragaloomba, with a round body and two plane wings that make them hover. They can shoot lasers from their mouths.
They are created by the Koopa Empire, in a future where Bowser took over the Mushroom Kingdom after the Mario Brothers' retirement. When the news that Mario came from the past spreads, the Empire sends a squadron of Mecha Kuribō to eliminate him and his friends. After being attacked by them, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi run to the time machine, which is the golden statue of Peach, to escape back to the present, but the statue is disfigured and destroyed by the Mecha Kuribō. Before they shoot the heroes, Mario distracts them by pointing at a "beautiful girl" in the distance, which the Mecha Kuribō fall for, giving Mario and his friends the chance to escape.
