Not to be confused with Candy's Save Point.
The save point (left) unactivated (right) with Wario having activated it with a 10 Gold Coin.
The inactive and active save points

Save points[1] are what serve as checkpoints in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. Each appears as a skull with horns on a pole and an embedded coin slot. In order to activate a save point, Wario must throw a 10 Gold Coin into the coin slot, allowing him to respawn from there if he loses a life. By doing this, the coin slot disappears and the sphere and skull light up. Unlike most other checkpoints, save points are usually not found on the direct path to the end of the level but in separate rooms. They also do not appear in all levels.
