Throughout the events of the game, the Giant Spear Man was deployed to many locations on Kitchen Island (the pirates' base of operations) to try to defeat Wario, who was plundering the base. In battle, the Giant Spear Man would walk back and forth extremely slow, attempting to stab Wario with his spear (much like a regular Spear Man). The creature's spear prevented the anti-hero from using any head-on attacks; instead, Wario had to Ground Pound the Giant Spear Man from above. After ten hits, the Giant Spear Man would surrender, and Wario could continue his looting. Although the Giant Spear Man engaged Wario in many battles, the purple-clad thief always emerged the victor.
The giant spear man also appears at the end of The Really Final Chapter. Here, he is positioned on a platform that Wario cannot land on, meaning that he must continuously bounce off the giant spear man until he is defeated. After Wario steals Captain Syrup's treasure, the giant spear man is shown trailing him back to his castle during the credits.

Interestingly, the Giant Spear Man was also the guard of Captain Syrup's personal treasure collection. At the end of the game, the large Goom attempted to stop Wario from stealing that treasure as well, but once again he lost to the powerful anti-hero. In the end, Wario got his revenge against Captain Syrup by stealing the treasure the Giant Spear Man was supposed to protect.

The giant spear man, also called Spear Guy[1] (or Spear guy),[2] is a large Pirate Goom that appears in Wario Land II. He appears in many levels throughout the game, with the objective of each of these levels being to defeat the giant spear man. When encountered, he slowly walks back and forth, much like a regular Pirate Goom, attempting to stab Wario with his spear. A ground-pound from above can damage the giant spear man and also cause him to change color. After ten hits, the giant spear man is defeated and drops a 100 Coin.
