Roosters[1] appear in Wario Land II as enemies. They are roughly the size of Wario and have sharp beaks to attack. Wario's pet hen is a female member of their species, and more hens may have been the chickens in the modern version of the Game & Watch title Fire Attack in Game & Watch Gallery 4. Roosters are encountered in stage 2-1: Return the hen to her nest mainly, though they also appear in another level. Roosters are peaceful unless Wario either touches them or is holding the hen, upon which the roosters become enraged and peck at him, taking away some of his coins if he gets hit. Roosters are unaffected by Wario's charging, which they are stunned by instead. While stunned, they can be picked up. Roosters are heavy enemies, and Wario's speed and jump distance will decrease while carrying one. Roosters can only be defeated from a Ground Pound.
