<< Directory of levels >>

Bopopolis is the temple level of Autumn Heights in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port of the same name, and the second temple level in the game. The level focuses on jumping on enemies. Its name is a portmanteau of "bop" and "metropolis".

The music that plays in this level, and every second temple level after it, is an arrangement of the "DK Island Swing" theme that first plays in Jungle Hijinxs in the original Donkey Kong Country. The arrangement also later appears in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Jungle Hijinxs stage and every Donkey Kong series stage, respectively, erroneously titled "Swinger Flinger".[1]

In Time Attack mode, a time of 1:22.00 is required to get a gold medal, a time of 1:35.00 for silver, and a time of 1:45.00 for bronze.

Overview[edit]

As the level's name implies, Donkey Kong must stomp on enemies to proceed further into the level and avoid falling into the bottomless pit, as there is very little ground in the level for him to stand on. The enemies Donkey Kong jumps on include Hootzes, Tucks, and Waldoughs. Occasionally, Donkey Kong will land on some platforms, but he cannot stay on them for long as they fall soon after he makes contact with them. Between jumping on enemies, Donkey Kong will also enter Barrel Cannons that launch him further into the stage. Later on in the level, Donkey Kong will have to time his jumps on enemies on moving platforms and Soaries, and avoid getting hit by Blue Hootzes. Once Donkey Kong reaches the end, he will obtain the second mysterious relic.

Puzzle Pieces[edit]

  1. When jumping on the five Hootzes lined up in a row, collecting all of the Banana Bunches here will reveal the Puzzle Piece.
  2. Moving down under one of the first elevator platforms occupied by Tucks.
  3. Under the unstable platform just after launching from the Barrel Cannon that blasts the Kongs on several Hootzes.
  4. When the Kongs reach a row of alternating Hootzes and Blue Hootzes, another Hootz will appear to the left of them with the Puzzle Piece above it.
  5. On the first platform of the first Ferris wheel-like set of platforms.
