- “Watch the Power of the Aura!”
- —Lucario, Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Template:SSB Infobox Lucario is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, entering from the Pokémon series 4th Generation of games. It uses its Aura abilities for its many attacks. Lucario can stick to walls. Lucario at some point in the game appears to fight Meta Knight at one point in the story. Afterwards, Lucario and Meta Knight team up. They later board the Halberd, and team up with Snake.
Lucario has a special property no one else in Brawl has - the more damaged Lucario is, the more damage and knockback all its attacks do. It seems to max out at 200% damage. A move that normally does 15% damage raises to 26% damage when it is at 200%, and knocks the opponent back about twice as far as normal.
Lucario seems to speak during the fight, for instance, during its Final Smash, but Sakurai has stated that Lucario is not actually speaking, but is using telepathy to communicate the voices.
Role in the Subspace Emissary
Template:Spoiler Lucario is encountered at the top of the ice mountain which the Ice Climbers and Meta Knight climb. At the top of the mountain, Meta Knight meets Lucario. Lucario and Meta Knight look at each other for a while and fight, while the Ice Climbers watch frightened. The player has the choice to play as either Lucario or Meta Knight--whoever looses the battle gets turned into a trophy, and the winner decides to revive the looser of the match.
After the looser is revived, Meta Knight and Lucario look at each other again for a while, with the Ice Climbers still frightened. However, Meta Knight and Lucario then shake hands, which is a sign that they are now allies. The Ice Climbers are glad to see Lucario and Meta Knight teaming up. However then, the four of them see the Halberd and the Great Fox. The Halberd makes the Great Fox crash into part of the mountain, which makes the Ice Climbers fall off the mountain. Lucario and Meta Knight are able to climb on top of the Great Fox and then jump onto the Halberd, and they go inside the Halberd.
The two travel through the Halberd, until Lucario, using his Aura, senses something coming from a Cardboard Box. Lucario lifts up the box and encounters Solid Snake. Meta Knight and Snake prepare to battle each other, however Lucario interrupts and warns the two that Primids are coming. Lucario, Meta Knight and Snake become allies and they make their way through the Halberd until they finally reach the Control Room, which is filled with Mr. Game & Watch men. Snake kicks the Game & Watch out the window, and the Game & Watch people all turn into Shadow Bugs.
The bugs then turn into Duon. Snake and Lucario jump out the window and meet up with Fox, Princess Peach, Princess Zelda and Falco where they fight Duon, while Meta Knight gets control of the Halberd. After Duon is defeated, all the Shadow Bugs turn into the Mr. Game & Watch trophy, which Peach revives. After the Falcon Flyer and the Halberd reunite, they then travel to the desert where everyone reunites. Then they fight against Ganondorf and Bowser's ship and make it to Subspace. There in Subspace, Lucario and everyone else fight against Tabuu.
Solid Snake Codec Conversation
- Mei Ling: You're fighting Lucario, aren't you, Snake?
- Snake: Mei Ling, what's that purple fire coming out of his hands?
- Mei Ling: That's his "Aura."
- Snake: Aura?
- Mei Ling: I guess you could call it his life force. Lucario can use his own Aura and turn it into power. Every time Lucario's damage increases, his Aura gains strength, making his attacks more powerful. So don't think you've got him beat just because his health is down.
- Snake: The cornered rat will bite the cat... Sounds like trouble.
- Mei Ling: Hey! When did you become so good with proverbs?!
- Snake: You must have rubbed off on me.
- Mei Ling: Well, come back in one piece, and I'll teach you all the Chinese proverbs you can handle.

Lucario | File:TrLucario.jpg | An Aura Pokémon. It can track energy called Aura, which is given off by all living creatures. It's a unique combination of both Fighting- and Steel-type Pokémon. Lucario evolves from Riolu during the day if its happiness has reached a certain point. It specializes in attacks that use Aura energy, like Dark Pulse and a can't-miss technique, Aura Sphere. |
Aura Storm | File:TrAura storm.jpg | Lucario's Final Smash. After flying off the screen, Lucario reappears in its center. He then launches a powerful Aura attack against all foes within a certain distance. The key to this attack is the ability to change its angle--it's a must to sweep slowly left and right to hit selected enemies multiple times. The last blow will send the victim flying away. |
Trivia
- Lucario is the first Fighting type Pokemon to be a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. series. He is also the first playable Steel type.
- Lucario is based on the Egyptian god Anubis.
