Checkpoint Flag locations

Odyssey

The location of a Power Moon in Super Mario Odyssey
Main article: Odyssey

The Odyssey lands in the southwestern corner of the kingdom. Hint Toad and Uncle amiibo are nearby. Mario can throw Cappy onto one of the Bowser heads on the fence behind the Odyssey to spawn a Power Moon.

Third Courtyard (Front)

The location of a Power Moon in Super Mario Odyssey

At the start of the area are two torches, a Checkpoint Flag, and two Pokios. Further to the right is an area with some crates, two Spinies, and three ? Blocks. The middle ? Block contains a Heart. If Mario captures a Pokio, he can fling himself to the upper level, where there is another Spiny, some crates, and a spark pylon which leads to Third Courtyard (Rear). A wall with another Spiny and some regional coins on it can also be found up here; if Mario falls off the right side of this wall, he finds a hidden platform with a Pokio and Power Moon #5, "Behind the Big Wall".

Third Courtyard (Rear)

The location of a Power Moon in Super Mario Odyssey

This area is reached after leaving Third Courtyard (Front) via a spark pylon. After some stairs, Mario reaches an enclosed area with two Spinies, three ? Blocks, and a rainbow treble clef on the left. The middle ? Block is a Coin Block. Above the middle ? Block is a Hidden Block containing a Heart. If Mario touches the treble clef, Notes appear in the pen. Collecting all of them before time runs out makes Power Moon #18, "Taking Notes: Between Spinies", appear in place of the treble clef.

To the right of the pen are three coin rings over a pit. After that is a Stairface Ogre. Once Mario defeats it, Power Moon #1, "Infiltrate Bowser's Castle!" appears from behind. After collecting this Power Moon, the doors ahead open and stairs rise, taking Mario to an area with crates and a spark pylon which takes him to the Second Courtyard. In the crate section, Mario is able to get up onto the roof, where he can find some regional coins, as well as a Pokio on the side. Mario can capture the Pokio and poke the hole in the middle of the wall to reveal Power Moon #21, "Poking Your Nose in the Plaster Wall".

After opening the kingdom's Moon Rock, a second rainbow treble clef appears over the roof, on the side of the courtyard. Mario can touch this treble clef for notes to appear on the wall, which he must use a Pokio to collect. After collecting all of the notes in the given time, Power Moon #54, "Taking Notes: On the Wall", appears for Mario to collect.

Showdown Arena

A circular arena where RoboBrood is fought.

Location list

Cap Kingdom

  • Central Plaza: Borderline, kind of noteworthy, but generically named and not that distinct from the rest of the kingdom since there are hat houses in other parts and it's generically named.
  • Glasses Bridge: Keep, minor landmark mentioned in the brochure.
  • Sometimes Bridge: Borderline, context of the name is that the brochure calls it 'The "Sometimes" Bridge', meaning it's not really a name and should probably be merged later, but whatever, it's not high on my priority list.
  • Top-Hat Tower: Keep, it's a major landmark with a sub-area in it.

Cascade Kingdom

Sand Kingdom

Lake Kingdom

Wooded Kingdom

Lost Kingdom

Metro Kingdom

Snow Kingdom

Seaside Kingdom

Luncheon Kingdom

Bowser's Kingdom

  • Souvenir Shop: Merge. It's basically just a floating island with a Crazy Cap on it, but there's a back door with a secret room inside. And there are seats and stuff... Anyway, it's generically named, and we already have a Crazy Cap article.
  • Island in the Sky (Bowser's Kingdom): Merge, painting exit location.
  • Third Courtyard (Front), Third Courtyard (Rear), Second Courtyard, Main Courtyard Entrance, Main Courtyard, Outer Wall, Inner Wall, Beneath the Keep: Merge. They're basically different islands and parts of the castle. The Main Courtyard Entrance is where Hariet and Topper and are fought. They're generically named, and they're not really landmarks, just different parts of the level. They're exactly the sort of thing I would compare to SMG planets.
  • Showdown Arena: Merge: The RoboBrood battle arena. Some New Donkers show up and decorate it a bit later. Otherwise, same as above.

Moon Kingdom

  • Ringing-Bells Plateau: Merge. Nondescript checkpoint location, despite the fancy name.
  • Quiet Wall: Merge, it's just the entrance to the fake link|Underground Moon Caverns.
  • Ever-After Hill: Merge, totally featureless path to the Wedding Hall aside from a red carpet.
  • Wedding Hall: Keep. Major landmark, important story location.
  • Underground Moon Caverns: Keep, major sub-area.
