Snowflakes[1] are crystallized ice formations encountered as obstacles in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They are widespread in Forest Folly, one level of the game. Snowflakes move on set paths through the air, with most of them constantly appearing from above. Their movements include swaying up and down, moving on an arc, circling around, or simply descending into an abyss.
If the Kongs touch a snowflake, they lose one heart from their health meter. Snowflakes can be destroyed with a thrown barrel or Tuff Tuck, or with a Cane Bounce.
Near the end of Forest Folly, much larger indestructible snowflakes start to float from above, breaking the wooden platforms beneath when they come into contact with them. In that section of the level, the Kongs need to hurry to the Slot Machine Barrel and avoid the big snowflakes, otherwise they instantly lose a life.
