The Vanish Cap is a cap found in Super Mario 64. When worn, it turns Mario temporarily into Vanish Mario. In this form Mario can walk through metal fences and certain walls. Mario must first press the blue ! Switch in the course Vanish Cap Under the Moat in order to activate the blue ! Blocks which contain vanish caps.
In Super Mario 64's remake, Super Mario 64 DS, Luigi gains the ability to become immaterial when he picks up a Power Flower, but the Vanish Cap itself is absent. Its music is the same as the Wing Cap music.

Trivia
- Like the Wing Cap music, the Vanish Cap music is a remix of Superstar Mario's theme from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, which in turn is a remix of the Starman's theme from Super Mario Bros., but with an added melody. This theme was reused as the Super Star's theme in New Super Mario Bros., and was remixed as the music for the Rainbow Star in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
