Peach's Parasol (also called Peach's Umbrella) is what Princess Peach uses to defend herself and to glide in the air. It replaces her floating dress ability from Super Mario Bros. 2. Peach has been using this parasol ever since she was a baby.

History

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Her parasol first appears in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, where it is a weapon. She also uses it to sneak out of Mushroom Castle.

Super Mario series

Super Mario Sunshine

Princess Peach uses this parasol in Super Mario Sunshine to protect her from the dangerous heat and she is also seen floating down with it in the ending.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Her parasol makes an appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2, where if the player attempts to shoot Star Bits at or jump on the princess, she will use her parasol to guard.

Super Mario 3D Land

Her parasol makes a small cameo in Super Mario 3D Land where she is whacking Goombas with in a manner similar to Super Princess Peach as shown in a letter sent to Mario once he's in World 6.

Super Mario Maker

Peach's parasol appears in Super Mario Maker when her costume is selected. It appears while she's jumping and when performing her unique pose.

Super Princess Peach

Peach's parasol appears in Super Princess Peach, where it actually has a mind of its own. It is implied in-game that this parasol was once a human being until two sorcerers' magic transformed him. She can whack enemies with it and float with it. The parasol can even "eat" enemies to refill the Vibe Gauge.

Super Paper Mario

The parasol appears in Super Paper Mario, where Peach can use it to float (as in Super Princess Peach) and defend herself while crouching.

Yoshi's Island DS

Baby Peach uses her parasol in Yoshi's Island DS, where it's her special move. Yoshi can improve his flutter jump with it, and makes it easy to ride winds.

Mario Party 3

Her parasol appears in the Mario Party 3 mini-game Parasol Plummet, where it was used by Peach.

Mario Kart series

The parasol appears in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8, where it is one of the available gliders.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

In Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, the parasol makes a cameo in the credits.

Super Smash Bros. series

The parasol appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee where it is a special move. She can glide in the air with it and hit opponents. It also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, with the same function.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, two additional variations are added, Parasol High Jump and Light Parasol. Parasol High Jump has her jump high, but she does not float with the parasol, making her helpless after the jump. Light Parasol decreases the initial jump height, but every time she opens the parasol, she can slightly glide upward. After this sequence has been performed four consecutive times, she becomes helpless.
