Hello! I'm Kirby Kart! Here's a different version of the List of Luigi's Mansion beta elements in my way. If this replaces the first one, I'll be cool with it.

This is a list of beta elements in Luigi's Mansion

Spaceworld 2000

Many Cut FMV's were shown in the Spaceworld 2000 reel, along with Metroid Prime, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Many cut-scenes were used in commercials, but not in the final version. It shows a early mansion, Luigi running away from a blue ghost, along with 3 other blue ghosts at the end. They appear in the final version, during the electrifying state of the Ghost Portrificationizer.

E3 2001

Shown at E3 2001, Luigi's Mansion was shown off again, with changes to the disc.[1] The game also showed an early Game Over, along with some more unused cut-scenes. A playable demo was shown, similar to Spaceworld 2000.

Early Ideas

Thought to be a rated "T" game, the director Hideki Konno stated that different house designs were planned to be used.[2] Konno also stated the game's stereoscopic 3D. Konno stated that the add-on was scrapped, due to the price being too expensive. Early versions allowed Luigi to spray water infinitely.

Early Items

  • Known as the "Entrance", the mirror in the Foyer, had no cloth on it, and Toad was missing. Shown in Spaceworld 2000, there was no mirror in the foyer.
  • The Parlor was called "Living Room", and had different furniture. The human portraits were purple ghosts wearing a top-hat.
  • The Master Bedroom was referred to "Bedroom 1", and had two beds at the front. Ghosts reside in it, and Lydia didn't look at Luigi.
  • The Nursery was known as the "Child's Room" and Chauncey was missing. The crib was a little farther from the wall, and ghosts appeared in the room.
  • There were originally two ways to enter the Dining Room, but only one in the final version.[3]
  • There was a door boarded up in the Kitchen.
  • The Game Boy Horror was originally a Game Boy Color.
  • Vases were blue.

Early HUD

The gaming HUD was revised:

  • The Heart Meter was shown as a fraction.
  • The Boo Meter was a whole number.[4]
  • Coins had their own counter.[5]

Early Features

  • The Poltergust 3000 was known as the Poltergust 400, and had a more rectangular look. It seemed lighter, less bulkier, and had a heat meter. If the meter reached 10, the vacuum would get lit on fire and Luigi would lose HP.
  • The Game Boy Horror had a timer.[6] It's thought that the game had a time limit, like The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, though the game's timer was shown just a timer for the game's Tech Demo. It's shown that a player was sent to the title screen after 1:30 displayed. The clock was replaced by a first-person camera, which was removed due to the GameCube not being able to have that feature.

Ghost Changes

Nintendo Power (1988-2012) showed and mentioned some early ghosts:

  • A species known as a Basher was tended to be in the game. A Basher would be invisible and would follow Luigi. Once close enough, the ghost would appear, along with text displaying "BAAAAHH". Luigi would scream, crab-walk backwards uncontrollably, and lose half his HP. These could've been recycled to Sneakers in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
  • An unused chef ghost would've taken place in the Kitchen and would throw tomatoes at Luigi. His attack strategy could have been used for Hiders.
  • Though the issue came out after the JP release, the issue made note about a Portrait Ghost in the Safari Room, and said he would slice Luigi's head off. Rumors say he was removed due to his actions being too violent. However, the game was rated "T", so it's possible he was removed during later in development.
  • Gold Ghosts were said to be blue and fat (seen in Spaceworld 2000}.
  • Purple Punchers were said to be green with big noses. Their next revision was gold, then yellow. All but the final revision had big noses. They had 30 HP in the beta.
  • Blue Twirlers were light-purple with big noses.
  • Boos had no tongue and had sharp teeth.
  • Bogmire wasn't present.

Models & Animations

There are 3 renders of Luigi and these renders would be used for the game's ending. One is a depressed Luigi. The other two had impressed Luigi's. Mario had 2 models. one was bMario and the other was dMario. bMario was as tall as Luigi, had the Poltergust 3000 straps, and had Luigi's gloves. This could have been used for a scrapped multi-player mode. The bMario model was scrapped and Nintendo inserted dMario.

Different colors of Shy Guy Ghosts and Flying Fish are unused.

A door that has a animation is shown in the game's files.[7]

An unused boss labled "Elh.szp" is in the game, along with the door, and unused Poltergust nozzles. These items can be used to replace Toad.

An unused animation title "Poison" is in the game by Action Replay. In the PAL version, pressing a button combo will make it look like Luigi is choking, and Luigi's eyes sometimes switch to the depressed eyes from the beta bad rank.

Trivia

  • The JP version kept the beta hurt sound.
  • Many beta elements have been made into AR codes in the PAL versions.
  • The unused poison animation is the same when being grabbed by a Grabbing Ghost.
