Rambi the Rhino
Rambi the Rhinoceros, the first Animal Buddy ever encountered.

An Animal Buddy, also known as an Animal Friend and a Jungle Buddy, is a term relating to any type of creature that aids Donkey Kong and his friends and family on their various adventures. Some of the ways Animal Buddies aid the Kongs are by defeating enemies and unlocking secrets. Animal Buddies first appeared in the game Donkey Kong Country and have appeared in most subsequent Donkey Kong series games.

Below is a list of species/characters whose status as Animal Buddies can be debated; in some cases, they're referred to as Pseudo Animal Buddies. Though several of these creatures must be needed to clear some levels, they can be harmful at the same time. Some of them may also either ignore the Kongs or not even acknowledge them.
