Image categories[edit]
Hello, JoeMcGoom4. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: or Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Please keep in mind that the uncategorized
line must be replaced with an appropriate category depending on the image. For Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D images, it should be replaced with
. Mario JC 19:09, December 21, 2019 (EST)
Remember it's square brackets for category links, not curly ones. Mario JC 05:47, January 11, 2020 (EST)
The category link should be like
, not YCW Images
. For another game, simply replace the "Yoshi's Crafted World" part with that game's title. Mario JC 19:51, January 20, 2020 (EST)
Hello, JoeMcGoom4. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using aboutfile incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
With your latest upload your left the fifth parameter (|5=) blank. If you do not have anything to put in a parameter, then it must be removed from the template. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 17:53, January 29, 2020 (EST)
Hello, JoeMcGoom4. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must apply the proper license. A full list of licenses can be found in the file copyright tags category, but the following are the most common:
When uploading, select the license from the drop-down box below the summary text box, or add the license manually after uploading or if you're using the upload function from the text editor. For example, artwork of Mario would use character-artwork. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Don't include multiple copyright templates; choose the one that you feel best fits the file. If you continue uploading files without applying the correct license, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
This too. Please remember to properly license your uploads. TheDarkStar 18:01, January 29, 2020 (EST)
New article[edit]
Thanks for creating the Reaper Guy article; just a few things to remember:
- The game title must be italicised. So Yoshi's Crafted World should be formatted as Yoshi's Crafted World, with two apostrophes before and after the title (
Yoshi's Crafted World
). - The article must have a navigation template and a category at the bottom of the page, as I've done here.
- "It's" as in "it's scythe" is incorrect. "It's" is short for "it is"; the possessive pronoun is "its" ("its scythe").
The Manual of Style provides more details on how new articles are written. Mario JC 19:51, January 20, 2020 (EST)
