Hi! When you upload images, you don't have to use every section of the "aboutfile" template. You can just simply remove any sections you don't need.

Hello, Infyte. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file into a subject category. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, images related to the game Super Mario World would use:

or one it its subcategories. Media files would use:

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Below the "aboutfile" template, make sure you add the correct categories for the image. The images you're uploading have to deal with Super Mario Party Jamboree, so add in below the template. Because these are images, they also shouldn't be categorized as characters and such. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 16:52, June 21, 2024 (EDT)

Please do not AI-upscale images (or upscale images manually yourself, making them blurry) or poorly crop the images around the artwork; the quality just looks worse this way. Just crop the icon as is from the video, or (especially for the ones that are too small in the video) wait for the game to release to get the actual sprites.

Also, avoid adding file links to pages until they've actually been uploaded. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:14, June 21, 2024 (EDT)

My bad guys. I was just trying to help out the wiki, and I didn’t realize my contributions would be frowned upon. I do kinda wish I got credit for my contributions that were kinda replaced my other people, but I’m not too upset. If you need anything, let me know. Thanks! User:DavidGamesYT/sig

Please review these messages if you intend to upload more images; your last upload of Pauline's icon was missing a category (and the image itself didn't need to be upscaled), and unused fields from the "aboutfile" template were not removed. Reminder

Please stop uploading images with bad transparency and not properly filling in file summaries on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

It's possible then that you screenshot the video using your device's built-in screenshot function (which usually saves the image in a resolution larger than the video actually is), the video itself upscaled them, or whatever you used to crop the images inadvertently saved them as large images; regardless, the images were still significantly larger than what they should be for icons, and I don't know what you used to crop them but there were some smudges left over around the characters near the corners. I'd simply wait for the in-game icon assets to release rather than trying to make a "sprite" out of a screenshot, even if it's a placeholder. For saving screenshots the future, you should screencap the video directly (right-click the video in desktop mode and select "Copy video frame", or alternatively use a screenshot browser extension or download the video and use the screenshot tool on a video player). However, the reminder still stands for the other reasons listed as a result of the Luigi and Daisy artwork uploads.

Please also make sure to sign your comments with four tildes at the end: ~~~~ Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 04:50, September 14, 2024 (EDT)

Oh alright. I apologize for that. As long as I'm not gonna get banned or anything lol. In the future, I'll just directly upload the screenshots without removing the background. User:DavidGamesYT/sig 05:25, September 14, 2024 (EDT)

"upscaling"

You aren't being accused of upscaling images; however, the gameplay footage you are getting these from is upscaling them from their raw parameters, so there is upscaling happening somewhere along the line there. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:18, September 13, 2024 (EDT)

Jamboree

Hi, @DavidGamesYT. I am a patroller on the site. We have policies against uploading material from games before their official release dates. Please stop uploading them. - Nintendo101 (talk) 13:19, October 14, 2024 (EDT)

You can review this policy on MarioWiki:Spoilers. - Nintendo101 (talk) 13:20, October 14, 2024 (EDT)

Hi. I'm Sorry. I did not realize that. Thanks, David.

Hi, again. When you update a screenshot with a different type of image, make sure you also update its licensing information like so. - Nintendo101 (talk) 15:43, October 16, 2024 (EDT)

Gotcha! DavidGamesYT

One more thing. When you upload a wholly new file, make sure it has a category directory and licensing, like so. The category ensures image files are not lost on the site and that other users can find them when they need to edit articles. The licensing clarifies what type of image it is, and that it is being uploaded for illustrative purposes.
It's great that you took the initiative to add these images to the wiki, but I would appreciate if you add these other details in. You can review your previous uploads here. - Nintendo101 (talk) 17:45, October 16, 2024 (EDT)
I'm so sorry about that. Can you explain me how I add those details in after they've been uploaded? I'm sorry once again, I am new to this lol. infyteYT
No worries! You'll get the hang of it!
Mario reaction in Super Mario Party Jamboree.
You can include categories before you upload, inside the text field, via linking to them. I like to add after the aboutfile field. For instance, this is what I inputted in the field for a file, File:Blame it on the Crane - SMPJ.png, before the upload. Note the last line, this is how you categorize an image. Make sure the category exists first, otherwise you'll get a red link!

However, you can continue editing in case you did forget to add it, so make sure you edit the page.
Mario It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:17, October 16, 2024 (EDT)

Alright! I am just unsure how to go back and edit it after I have already uploaded it. When I click on the image there isn't an option to edit the description or anything. I would really appreciate some help lol infyteYT

Sure! It's easy. You edit it like any other page. I typically edit the summary to include this information. Mario It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:56, October 16, 2024 (EDT)

Also, categories for images are always "(game) images". Categories like "Super Mario Party Jamboree minigames" are for articles only. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:22, October 18, 2024 (EDT)

Ripping Jamboree

Hey, how did you rip the sprites of Super Mario Party Jamboree? Cause Toolbox don't want to open the bea files. blueberrymuffin 20:40, October 16, 2024 (-03 UTC)

RE:Jamboree Stamp Reverting

I just awake and thanks for the heads up. But you can actually revert them back directly by yourself if you found them are not accurate! Sprite of Pi'illoper from Mario & Luigi: Dream TeamBlhte(A****** c*****) 22:19, October 17, 2024 (EDT)

Hey

Can you rip the turn start jingles for each character in Jamboree? Justgetmycatch (talk) 08:56, December 1, 2024 (EST)

Citations

Please remember to cite sources for information on articles related to upcoming games; that includes the costume names you added, if they're official. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 02:17, April 5, 2025 (EDT)

File license

Remember to select the "Video game screenshot" license from the drop-down menu (under the "Summary" box when you upload).

Again, please try not to take screenshots where they're so blurry it's hard to see the character. I suggest setting the video to its highest quality before taking one, and not increasing the scale of the image.

As for the costume names, it's better to draw the line and just wait for their names to be revealed, otherwise it just opens the floodgates for others to start to speculate and assign conjectural names for less obvious alts. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:40, April 11, 2025 (EDT)

Ok Alright. Thanks for you help! As for the blurry images, I apologize. I probably could've tried to get a better screenshot but I was in a big rush and just got what I could haha! --infyteYT (talk) 17:05, April 12, 2025 (EDT)

Hey, make sure you remember this step next time you upload, had to fill in for you for your recent uploads. Good job otherwise! BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 18:24, April 25, 2025 (EDT)

Oh I apologize, In will fix them right now. Thanks so much! --infyteYT (talk) 18:25, April 25, 2025 (EDT)

Warning

This warning has been overturned by the MarioWiki staff. The original warning can still be viewed.
Warning icon This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (adding unsourced/unconfirmed information) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

You've done this multiple times now (despite my previous messages); please stop adding outfit names without a source / until they've been confirmed. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:43, April 21, 2025 (EDT)

Oh I apologize. I was looking at the image gallery and saw that the baby explorer alts had their names listed with their character select icons, so I thought they were confirmed. I apologize. I would like to appeal this warning, although I intent it in the most respectful and professional way possible.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Infyte (talk).

For the future, it's best not to take other pages mentioning upcoming games at face value if they themselves don't have a source; you should try to verify where they got the info from first, since it's possible for anyone else to add unconfirmed info too. In regards to your other statements in the appeal: don't take warnings or the constant messages as a "hindrance" or a "devaluing" of your edits. Warnings are meant to steer you in the right direction, but after that they're records of past activity and as long as you've improved from them since then, they're not something to be judged by when it comes to current behaviour (that includes when assessing candidates for adminship), nor should they be. That's the nature of wiki editing; it's a thankless task, since there are so many editors editing the wiki at once that it's common for edits to be overlooked, but there will be users who will bring your attention to problems or mistakes, but it's only to help you to become a better editor. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 11:34, April 22, 2025 (EDT)

Alright, That's fine. I appreciate your help. --infyteYT (talk) 14:28, April 22, 2025 (EDT)

Regarding your addendum to the appeal: that's not the edit I was referring to. The one you're referring to is this edit on around April 9, which led to my message above under "File license".
The one I'm referring to is this edit on around April 16 (which I linked in my appeal comment), which followed that message. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:26, April 23, 2025 (EDT)

Oh ok, my apologies. I actually talked to someone who had a chance to try out the Switch 2 at the Switch 2 experience, and when I asked about Mario Kart World, this person referred to some of the alts as "Baby Mario Work Crew, Baby Peach Sailor, etc." because I asked them about the character alts they were able to see in the demo for Mario Kart World. Since this person got to play the game first hand, I assumed that these character alts were official, but I am not entirely sure if they were seemingly just guessing the names or if they saw them directly. Does that make sense?--infyteYT (talk) 15:55, April 23, 2025 (EDT)

Mario reaction in Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Hi, your appeal was successful. We realize the warning would've been never issued in the first place if there was a misunderstanding arising from misreading the text, or a mistakened assumption. We do hope in the future, to avoid spending time dealing with this problem, you declare how you got your information beforehand. You can add someone at the demo stated the names, but when concerning hearsay, it's preferred if you add a citation needed template and then declare that the information is hearsay and needs to be verified through edit summary. That way, it's clear what the intentions are and someone else can also help source the name more readily. Thank you for helping out in the wiki, and thank you very much for handling the situation with patience and cooperation. Mario It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 12:55, April 26, 2025 (EDT)

Thank you so very much! I appreciate your help and understanding regarding this issue. I will make sure to cite this in the future. If there's anything I can do in the future to help out the wiki, please let me know and I will hop on it! --infyteYT (talk) 14:35, April 26, 2025 (EDT)

It's all good! And no need to apologise, you weren't being rude at all, you were just making your case and it's understandable you'd feel a little miffed about getting a warning you felt was undeserved. It wouldn't have happened in the first place if it weren't for the misunderstanding on my part, so if anything I should be the one to apologise. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 10:17, April 28, 2025 (EDT)

I appreciate your understanding! Like I mentioned, if you need anything, lemme know!--infyteYT (talk) 13:27, April 28, 2025 (EDT)
