Italics[edit]
You almost got it with this edit, but every instance of a game, magazine, or movie title has to be italicized. You got the header in the edit, which means you know how to do so, but it needs to apply to the content as well. 18:54, 21 December 2018 (EST)
You also don't need to italicise every link, just titles for games etc. Basically (as I noticed you're copying the format from other code on the page) the square brackets make the link, while the double apostophes make it italicised, so you just need the square brackets in this case. Mario JC 19:07, 26 December 2018 (EST)
Please stop forgetting to italicise titles on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Please remember this. Alternatively, you can click the letter "I" icon at the top of the text box and type the name in. Mario JC 21:34, 7 January 2019 (EST)
Please recall this reminder; I don't want to give you a warning for this but you could receive one if this continues. Mario JC 21:46, July 17, 2019 (EDT)
Images[edit]
Hello, Dogleader. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: or Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Another user recently missed this as well. For future uploads, on the upload page:
- After you remove
uncategorized
, it must be replaced with an appropriate category (found through the links above) depending on what the image depicts. So if it's an image from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,
must be added in the "Summary" box. - Please also remember to select a license from the "Licensing" drop-down menu. If it's a screenshot, "Video game screenshot" must be selected.
See also Help:Gallery on how to create and add images to galleries. Mario JC 06:58, 26 January 2019 (EST)
The Dixie and Kiddie Kong spirit image you are uploading already exists as File:Hover Craft DKC3 GBA.png, which is already placed appropriately. Please do not continue to upload a screenshot of the sprite we already have, thanks. 11:24, 3 February 2019 (EST)
If the Dixie and Kiddy spirit image had to be deleted, then why didn't the spirit pictures for Tiny or Chunky? I uploaded Chunky's and tried to do Tiny's.
- Simply put, I didn't notice those ones. We'd rather they be a sprite than a screenshot, and since they are png images, they can be overwritten with the actual sprite, which would replace the original jpgs if they are better quality. You can probably find them on The Spriter's Resource. 11:34, 3 February 2019 (EST)
It's been a while, so please read over the above again. 12:25, September 11, 2019 (EDT)
If you find your image has been deleted, do not reupload it without a reason discussed with the deleter. The Tiny Kong image you are uploading is a lower quality version of File:TinyKong.jpg. 13:01, October 11, 2019 (EDT)
Please follow what's been explained to you above regarding categories and licensing. I strongly suggest using Special:Upload for this as it's easier, since it seems you're uploading through the text editor's upload function which only calls for a description. Forgetting next time may result in a warning. Mario JC 02:32, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
--Dogleader (talk) My mistake Alex. I just really dislike Tiny's redesign, so I decided to replace her image with the design I like.
Hello, Dogleader. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must apply the proper license. A full list of licenses can be found in the file copyright tags category, but the following are the most common:
When uploading, select the license from the drop-down box below the summary text box, or add the license manually after uploading or if you're using the upload function from the text editor. For example, artwork of Mario would use character-artwork. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Don't include multiple copyright templates; choose the one that you feel best fits the file. If you continue uploading files without applying the correct license, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Your files need to have a category and license as you were reminded above, not just a description. I notice you're using the upload function from the text editor, but I would suggest you use Special:Upload to do this instead as it's easier (it's labelled as "the default upload function" when you usually upload). If you do, please review the instructions you were given above. If not, then you should place the following information under your description:
==Licensing== (License template here) (Category link here)
Example:
The gray Poison Mushroom ==Licensing== game-sprite
This is the last reminder; please remember this for future uploads or you may receive a warning. Mario JC 00:53, June 12, 2020 (EDT)

You were just reminded about this. Don't simply add a description, you need to add a category and license as instructed above. Remember to also use the image you've uploaded. Mario JC 22:30, June 17, 2020 (EDT)

Your edit here not only resulted in a loss of valid information, but also consisted of adding in clearly false information. Mari0fan100 (talk) 10:03, March 12, 2019 (EDT)
- This was not false information, it was an observation. His name implies a baby (actually being called "Baby Yoshi" in Japan), so it could be a diaper. But we should have some text to confirm that. 10:08, March 12, 2019 (EDT)
- Whoops, sorry. It looked like false information to me. Mari0fan100 (talk) 10:11, March 12, 2019 (EDT)
Dogleader (talk) 21:15, March 18, 2019 (EDT) Is it really my opinion that Kiddy Kong has a very poor reception like I said? Many Let's Players and reviewers of DKC3 say they don't like him.
- Let's Players isn't something we refer to, but I don't think we cover individual character reception anyway. Closest we have is cultural impact on Mario's page. 21:18, March 18, 2019 (EDT)
--Dogleader (talk) Alex95 and Mari0fan100, how did my edit for Mini-Yoshi's page give false information?
--Dogleader (talk) But the warning sign above says it did.
- The warning was mistaken. There was no false information, but the information isn't confirmed, either. 19:10, April 12, 2019 (EDT)

--Dogleader (talk) 08:13, March 17, 2020 (EDT) Alex95, did you by chance see this edit for Yoshi's page?
File:Bowser Jr. and Kamek.png[edit]
This can only be a personal image if it's used on your userpage or a custom signature (and should be tagged with Dogleader
). Otherwise, please don't upload simply for a talk post; just use the images we have already. Mario JC 22:37, November 6, 2020 (EST)
File:Kiddy's Green Pajamas.png[edit]
Please don't crop sprites from video screenshots like this; it looks shoddy. If possible, could you upload a version of this with the background intact? Mario JC 23:04, February 10, 2021 (EST)
Please stop uploading poorly cropped artwork. I noticed you got the Kiddy artwork from the Player's Guide scans online, and converting a JPG image to a PNG with transparency applied goes against our image use policy, which removing the background and replacing it with white isn't far different from since it still leaves behind obvious edge pixels. If it's not something like a sprite from a NES/SNES/etc. game where cropping is easy, just upload with the original background. Mario JC 05:59, January 4, 2022 (EST)
Talk pages[edit]
Talk pages are only for discussing changes to articles, not for casual conversation about the article's subject, so please stop putting those kind of comments in talk pages. Nightwicked Bowser 19:11, July 25, 2021 (EDT)
Smash[edit]
Please don't just write "Smash" when referring to the series, as it's informal/colloquial. You need to write the full term ("Super Smash Bros. series"). Mario JC 05:39, January 7, 2022 (EST)
Larger reuploads[edit]
Please avoid uploading new versions of images that are just upscaled versions of the original resolution. Larger isn't always better and can even make the image blurrier in some cases. The original image sizes are how they were in the original games, and they can be resized for an article using the "px" function if necessary. Mario JC 06:14, December 18, 2022 (EST)
Duplicate images[edit]
Make sure to check the game's gallery or image category to see if an image already exists before uploading so you don't accidentally upload identical images. Mario JC 08:59, May 2, 2023 (EDT)
