The 'Shroom:Issue 128/Staff Notes
Hey everyone and welcome to this month's edition of The 'Shroom! This is Issue 128, and many sections are theming around 2D Mario games. It's also that time of the year when schoolwork bulks up, so some sections may be absent but don't let that discourage you! Next month is the holiday special with a Wii U send-off theme, so if you would like to submit a guest section for that feel free to contact me and Superchao (talk). Another thing fancy about this issue is the Award's Director Election! If you think you have what it takes to host the annual Awards Ceremony, and taking the responsibilities that goes along with it, go check it out. There's not much else to say, so please enjoy this issue and I'll see you all next time.
—Meta Knight, Director
Hello, 'Shroom readers!
I sure am a sub-director, huh? Meta Knight beat me to all the useful information, so I'll just have to overthrow him in a coup. I'll be too busy with that, so you get this excuse for staff notes. Enjoy!!

Staff Section of the Month for October 2017
STAFF-VOTED SECTION OF THE MONTH | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Place | Section | Writer | Reasoning | |
1st | The 'Shroom Killing Game: Goodbye Poochy | GBAToad (talk) | This section meant to announce an upcoming 'Shroom event was well put together, GBAToad did a good job explaining mechanics as well as acknowledging the impact of the Awards Killing Game hosted by Lord Bowser. It's exciting to know how many people are looking forward to this event and this section definitely played a part in that. | |
2nd | Dear Anton | Hypnotoad (talk) | Even though it's self-described as being low effort and failing to meet Anton's expectations, it came really well together and any more added to it would've been probably too much or too cluttered. Anton was able to seamlessly shoehorn in a bunch of in-jokes, references, and meta-humor, and he commented on being proud of how well the drawings came out relative to how quickly they were done since it's evident that he's getting better at not overthinking and just getting the drawing done and out. | |
2nd | It's aMAZEing | Lakituthequick (talk) | Lakituthequick does this section justice, and the maze is fun to look at and solve through. He emulates MK's original style well and it's good to see this section return. Cappy was also an excellent theme as Super Mario Odyssey was released the same month. | |
3rd | Take Cover! | Tucayo (talk) | It's clear there's serious interest and passion behind the writing in this; that there's thought and care put into it beyond cranking it out before the deadline to fill a spot. For a group as prolific as U2, Tucky was able to summarize concisely their history without missing a detail or beat keeping even people who don't know a single thing about them or that genre interested throughout the section, rounding it out with a heartfelt connection to recent tragedies. | |
4th | Anton's Half-Baked Reviews | Hypnotoad (talk) | I found it highly amusing the last time Anton told us about his adventures with other members of our community, and this spiritual sequel did not disappoint at all. Whenever I read this section I imagine a friend just casually telling me about stuff he has done and that's part of what makes this section so appealing and fun to read. | |
5th | Mario Kart: Wheel Tips Corner | Yoshi876 (talk) | This section has been a staple of Strategy Wing since it's foundation and it deserves to be recognized for all the work that Yoshi876 has put into it to make it a quality section. |
