Split between classic and Game Boy versions[edit]
This navtemp is massive due to including all content from both versions. I know that all content from the arcade game appears in the GB game, but there's so much from the GB game that doesn't appear in the arcade game that it'd be far easier to navigate if a smaller template was made for the arcade content alone; after the first four levels, the GB one is for all intents and purposes a completely different game. - I'm not for splitting this. It's still a remake of the original Donkey Kong. It's just unusual in that it is a remake with significantly more content than before. Super Mario RPG (talk) 12:02, January 20, 2024 (EST)
- I don't take this as a "remake" by today's standards. We might as well say Donkey Kong 64 is a "remake" of Donkey Kong because we can have template overlap. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:35, January 20, 2024 (EST)
- No, that's because it has an embedded port of Donkey Kong within the game. Donkey Kong for Game Boy begins in the same manner as earlier iterations of Donkey Kong, but the twist is that it includes more content. Super Mario RPG (talk) 12:44, January 20, 2024 (EST)
- It has added content right when you start the game that fundamentally changes how you play, via the brand new jump moves shown in the demo sequence that make going through the "tutorial" levels a breeze. It's kind of like the equivalent of going through a recreation of Super Mario Bros. World 1. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:01, January 20, 2024 (EST)

Split between arcade and Game Boy versions 9-0
See above. It gets annoying trying to look for arcade entities when there's a sea of things from the expanded GB game (wherein the original game is more of a "training" stage and includes new moves anyway), and there is just such an overwhelming disparity between the content here that it makes more sense to just separate these into two templates.

- Arend (talk) THIS. I too feel like this nav template feels more like it was for the Game Boy title but has the arcade game lazily tacked on just because the arcade levels have been remade for the Game Boy title - never mind that Game Boy title is a completely different game that heavily expands on the arcade one to such a degree that the arcade one only represents a small portion of it. It's not like we lazily merged {{SMK}} and {{MKSC}} together because of the Extra Cups, or have the arcade portion of this template be merged instead with {{DK64}} since a more faithful port is playable in Hideout Helm.
- Jdtendo (talk) Per proposal.
- EvieMaybe (talk) per
- Platform (talk) per
- Hewer (talk) Per all, these are two separate games.
- ThePowerPlayer (talk) Per all.
- Camwoodstock (talk) ...How has this never been questioned before??? This feels like such an obvious split. Per proposal, this is almost absurd.
- Scrooge200 (talk) The GB game is an entire expansion that just happens to share the same name. Per all.

should Template:DK64 remove the Donkey Kong arcade elements as well? It's almost like incorporating the Mario Bros. GBA remake in Template:SMB2/SMB3/SMW/YI. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:14, September 24, 2024 (EDT)
