- You mean the "Layout" header? Simply type this: " == Layout == ", on a new line. ThePremiumYoshi

More information[edit]
Are we not going to make a page or mention of the yoshi sphinx/sphinxes found in other desert locations, such as as seen here or here? I think it re-occurs enough to at least make some larger mention. Trig - 10:57, October 17, 2019 (EDT)
- Eh, it's basically just a background detail outside of Sticker Star, I don't see why it would need an article. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 17:59, October 17, 2019 (EDT)
- It still is notable, appearing in so many games, and being an entire level. A do think that this page should be expanded or split to add its appearances in other games. Doomhiker (talk) 18:15, October 17, 2019 (EDT)
- How many games is it in, anyway? All I know of is Super Circuit, Mario Kart Wii, and Sticker Star. If anything, we could mention that a Yoshi sphinx appears in those games in the trivia, but I don't see why it deserves its own page. Is there any precedent for recurring background elements getting pages? -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 18:21, October 17, 2019 (EDT)
- It appeared in Super Circuit, Mario Kart Wii, and Sticker Star. And while there is not a precedent, the fact that it is a stage alone makes it worthwhile to create an article for it. The fact that it appeared in previous games is not trivia, as it is part of the subject's history, just like anything else appearing in a background. Doomhiker (talk) 18:27, October 17, 2019 (EDT)

- Trig said "a page or mention". Other instances of Yoshi-like Sphinxes warrant a mention, per an "Other appearances" section or similar. Not much to argue about once we get past that initial misunderstanding. -- Lord G. matters. 18:42, October 17, 2019 (EDT)
Splitting and MarioWiki:New Articles[edit]
Even as an RPG, Sticker Star (and probably by extension, Color Splash, but I have no clue about Color Splash) is divided into levels and qualifies for the same rules that enforce the existence of independent level articles that World 1-Rainbow from New Super Mario Bros 2, Secret Course 16 from Super Mario Run, and Stitchy Scramble from Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World do.
Whats going on? Sticker Star is a black sheep in Mario RPGs for a reason. Many reasons, but one of those reasons is that it's straight up divided into levels. (Well, the manual (US) calls them "stages". This wiki's article says "level" directly, as in "worlds are segmented into levels". Darn you insistent terminology!) As in, there is a world map, with which you move from unlocked level to unlocked level. Blue nodes for complete levels, red nodes for incomplete levels. Each level has a code. When a level is entered, Mario strictly starts at one point of the level, and has to make his way through a guantlet of enemies, platforms, and cutscenes to reach the other. There is a goal on the other side, in which touching it instantly terminates the level. In doing so, this clears the level and unlocks another level on the map. This is referenced in the manual as "completing" stages, as in the phrase: "Get a comet piece to complete a stage" Some levels have multiple goals, and Mario Wiki articles on them call the extra goals "secret exits" just as we do for articles on New Super Mario Bros.
There's only two locations in the whole game that are considered non-levels: Decalburg and Surfshine Harbor. The manual prefers calling them towns. Everything else totally counts, meaning MarioWiki:New articles's section on Level articles kicks in and makes W2-2 of Sticker Star an independent article. I'm not against articles for recurring background objects, but levels are levels and background objects are not, and policy says levels get to be separate. Sticker Star doesn't have to say "Course Cleared!" by word for that to happen Salmancer (talk) 05:42, October 29, 2024 (EDT)
