Huey quotes[edit]

I just added Huey's quotes to the page, and they take up over 70,000 bytes, which is almost as much as the rest of the page combined. Should Huey's quotes be split into a List of Huey quotes page? 70,000 bytes is 30,000 bytes longer than even the List of Mario quotes page. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. In my opinion, that's a good idea. We don't want the page to lag for people who want to view it, because there's SO MUCH TEXT. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 10:11, 14 February 2017 (EST)
OK, I'll go ahead and do that. I'll leave some quotes behind so that his section isn't completely empty other that the link to his quote page. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 10:16, 14 February 2017 (EST)

Split?[edit]

I've been adding a lot of quotes recently, and this page is getting quite long. Should we consider splitting the page into (A-K) and (L-Z) soon? --Technetium (talk) 14:05, July 9, 2024 (EDT)

I checked and the page is 150,662 bytes long. That's pretty big, and so I wouldn't mind a split. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 14:13, July 9, 2024 (EDT)
Sounds good, do I need to do a proposal for it? --Technetium (talk) 14:16, July 9, 2024 (EDT)
Just to be safe, yes. This will make sure that everyone is on board with the split first. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 14:17, July 9, 2024 (EDT)
Thanks, will do. --Technetium (talk) 14:38, July 9, 2024 (EDT)

Split List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes into two pages[edit]

This page is getting very long, so I think we should follow what other List of quotes pages have done and split it into two.

What I'm unsure on is which letter of the alphabet it should be split by. List of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door quotes is split into (A-K) and (L-Z), while List of Super Paper Mario quotes is split into (A-L) and (M-Z). This is only a one letter difference, but I feel it is important to choose between the two, or perhaps a third option if that comes up. Personally, I think all quote list pages should be consistent with where in the alphabet they split, but that is for another proposal.

Proposal Option 1: Split List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes into List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes by character (A-K) and List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes by character (L-Z)

Proposal Option 2: Split List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes into List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes by character (A-L) and List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes by character (M-Z)

Proposal Option 3: Split List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes into List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes by character (A-M) and List of Paper Mario: Color Splash quotes by character (N-Z)

  1. Technetium (talk) As proposer. First choice, as (A-M) and (N-Z) split evenly with 13 letters each.
  2. Sparks (talk) This will ensure that each league will have 13 letters, making both pages even.

Comments[edit]

"M" is the 13th letter of the alphabet, so if the lists were split from A to M, that would leave N to Z with it's own page, thus allowing both pages to use 13 letters. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 15:12, July 9, 2024 (EDT)

Wow, I cannot count. I’ll go ahead and add that as a third option! —Technetium (talk) 15:14, July 9, 2024 (EDT)

The lettering isn't something that should be voted on or standardized by letter, it should always be determined by the byte size of the resulting partitions. I've now provided an outline for that here. So sadly, I will have to cancel this. But thanks to this, we have the outline now. --Steve (talk) Get Firefox 16:03, July 9, 2024 (EDT)

Awesome, thanks! --Technetium (talk) 16:21, July 9, 2024 (EDT)
