Talk:Lever Switch
Split Lever Switch and Switch (Donkey Kong) into separate articles[edit]
This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal. |
split 4-1
Lever Switch comes from the name of the lever object that originated in the Super Mario Galaxy games; the similar puzzle element from Game Boy Donkey Kong is only known as a "switch", and can be grabbed and shifted around rather than only hit with a star spin.
Proposer: LinkTheLefty (talk)

Oppose[edit]
- River Piranha (talk) They look quite similar, and appear to be the same kind of switch in Galaxy as in Game Boy Donkey Kong. Also, if we split the article, the two new articles will be very short, and may even be (forbidden) stub articles. I am not convinced.
Comments[edit]
@River Piranha, short articles aren't an issue, and as long as the articles have all the relevant information then they won't be stubs. Stubs are only articles that lack information. Yoshi876 (talk)
One more difference I forgot to mention earlier is that Donkey Kong's switches are exclusively designed around the control of locks and platforms, whereas the Lever Switches of the Galaxy games are more unpredictable and have a wider range of uses (and, if I recall correctly, cannot be interacted with once activated). Paper Mario[edit]
Is this article the right place for the levers controlling the train track of Shy Guy's Toy Box in Paper Mario ? --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 08:33, 22 January 2017 (EST)
- I don't see why not. 12:55, 13 April 2017 (EDT)
- Based on the proposal above, this is for the switches specifically from Super Mario Galaxy. Niiue - Who has lost his tail?
- Well, Switch is currently vague and Lever just redirects here. Additionally, the opening sentence of Lever Switch says "Lever Switches appear multiple times throughout the Mario franchise." So, unless the switch from Paper Mario deserves its own page, I don't see why Lever Switch can't have more info on other switches beyond Galaxy. 13:34, 13 April 2017 (EDT)
- Are the levers in Super Paper Mario's Yold Town and The Underwhere listed?
- (--) 13:59, 13 April 2017 (EDT)
- ...I think this page needs to be expanded to include more levers, as there are many more levers that could be included, such as from Wario World, Yoshi's Cookie, and the game in question. And should probably be moved to the Lever redirect to encompass all of them. 14:04, 13 April 2017 (EDT)
