May found a newer name[edit]
I was browsing in the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe in-game videos descriptions and found this line in the Screwtop It Up's description: "You can also wall jump from the edge of the red and white platforms, so try and make the most of them." -- Mariuigi Khed 17:29, February 21, 2024 (EST)
- Sounds like a pretty generic descriptor. Do the other languages line up with what we've got? LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:57, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- But... they're usually blue.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:29, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- In Italian they, I'll check later for the others -- Mariuigi Khed 13:01, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- It's been a little while since this has been brought up, but please don't move this. They're almost always blue. Starluxe (talk) 12:47, August 24, 2024 (GMT)
- Yeah, I think this "red and white platform" name should not be the name of the article. It's only been red and white in New Super Mario Bros. U and its related DLC campaign and Switch reissue. They're orange with blue tips in New Super Mario Bros. for DS, and in Mario Bros. (and basically every other game that incorporates Mario Bros. in some kind of way), these floors seem to come in all kinds of colors and patterns, but are most traditionally known to be blue, from the first couple of levels. I feel naming them after a particular color would confuse the heck out of most readers, in a Huge Red Electrokoopa kind of way. I feel like the current name is fine (especially giving that the Japanese name for that exact red-and-white New Super Mario Bros. U variant also translates to Mario Bros. Floor), but if it's too ubiquitous (even if said ubiquity only extends to two New Super Mario Bros. titles),
I suppose Floor (platform) would also work.Nevermind, looks like the Wrecking Crew and Pinball ones (the latter being merged with Bingo lamp) also are like platforms... rend (talk) (edits) 08:25, August 24, 2024 (EDT)
