Is the enemy/object discussion still unresolved? While I would class it as an enemy, there is currently nothing occupying "Alarm clock" which is how the game refers to it (and Alarm Clock is a disambig with a link to this article under the name of "Alarm clock"). Bit old, but that was put up before Shogakukan information was added. I can say now that the current identifier (or maybe your method) is fine. In the Shogakukan guide, the alarm clock is listed similarly to the game's other regular enemies (in a 「キャラクター図鑑」 [Character Bestiary] box), and is labeled as a "GOAL" on its level map as opposed to a "BOSS" like the giant spear man and other bosses. So it's treated as a unique enemy, not a miniboss or object. EDIT: Although since Kotsuheri is also in a Character Zukan box, object could work just as well...
