| Roketons, also known as Rocketons, are airborne enemies that are Tatanga's personal guards in his invasion of Sarasaland during the events of Super Mario Land. The only visible part of a Roketon's body is its head. Roketons fly planes; these aircraft are based on either the MiG-15 or the improved design, the MiG-17; both are jet fighters of the former USSR. Roketons appear only in World 4-3, guarding the path to both Biokinton and Tatanga, and successfully shooting the Roketons down before they leave the screen earns the player 400 points. If a Roketon makes its way past Mario in his Sky Pop, it fires a Bullet Biff backwards at him. The official artwork also depicts cannonballs being shot forward out of the nose of the plane, but this feature was never used in the actual game.

| In the Super Mario Land manga, Roketons are the first enemies to appear, assaulting Princess Daisy's castle with Tatanga. They later reappear towards the end of the last chapter, in Chai Kingdom's sky. A Nyololin informs them via radio to take Mario down, but they are shot by the Sky Pop's missiles.
| | Roketons are creatures flying planes (or possibly living planes) who served Tatanga during his invasion of Sarasaland during the events of Super Mario Land for the Gameboy. They only appeared in the final stage in the Chai Kingdom, Level 4-3, protecting the path to both Biokinton and Tatanga. If a Roketon made his way past Mario in his Sky Pop, he would fire a Gira-like cannonball backwards at him that he would be ill-pressed to avoid. However, if Mario succeeded in shooting the Roketon down before he left the screen, he would be awarded with 400 points. A type of Bullet Bill is found under the plane he pilots, which could possibly be a Gira. However, the Bullet Bills are merely vestigial and the Roketons don't use them as a means of weaponry (in the game, these Giras are what Roketon fires at Mario), . It is possible that Roketons are the same species as Tatanga himself, and therefore his initial invasion force. |
