==Overview==
Alarmo uses a motion sensor to detect if the user is moving in bed or gets up. It has seven themes based on Nintendo games (five pre-installed and two downloadable), with three of the themes based on games in the ''[[Super Mario (franchise)|Super Mario]]'' franchise: one based on ''[[Super Mario Odyssey]]'' available at release, one based on ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' that released in December 2024, and one based on ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' that released on [[MAR10 Day]] in 2025. Music from the game chosen plays as the alarm. Using the Gentle Mode will make the music stay the same, but using the Steady Mode will make the music more intense if the user takes a long time to get out of bed. Moving in the bed will play sound effects from the game chosen. When the user gets out of bed after the alarm, a fanfare will play and the alarm music will end. It can also play calm sounds when the user goes to bed. Alarmo has an hourly chime where many Nintendo characters interact with the time. The user can also use Alarmo to track how long they were in bed for and their movements when they were asleep.<ref name=website/>

==Alarm clocks==
Alarmo features alarm clock themes for each of the seven Nintendo games represented. The user can choose a game and one of seven alarms for each game, or have Alarmo choose one game or alarm at random each day. The clock's screen will display the time, date, and set alarm time on the main screen, themed after the selected game.

Each alarm represents a different scenario from the source game, playing the corresponding background music and playing sounds from characters or objects to try and wake up the user. When the alarm is ringing in the standard Steady Mode, when the user moves around in bed, sounds play that emulate the player acting in the scenario from the original game. After eight audible beats from moving, the alarm goes into a snoozed mode, or if the user stops moving before the threshold, the beats reset and the user has to start over. While in a snoozed mode, a lighter or quieter version of the music plays, with more subtle sounds playing when the user moves. There are three other alarm modes: Moderate Mode, which begins in the snoozed mode and gradually increases in intensity, Gentle Mode, which stays only in the snooze mode, and Button Mode, which disables the motion sensor and acts akin to a standard alarm clock.

When the user leaves bed, Alarmo will play a fanfare that corresponds to the alarm scene set. If the user goes back to bed, the alarm will start ringing again after 30 seconds of no movement. If the user stays in bed for 20 minutes after the originally set time, the alarm is replaced with a more intense alarm from the source game; this alarm is the same regardless of which alarm from the game is set. The intenser alarm otherwise behaves the same. If the alarm is set to Gentle Mode, no intense alarm will sound. After one hour of the alarm being active, it will turn itself off.

The user can configure various settings on the Alarmo. Sleepy Sounds allows the user to set a bedtime for each day and have gentle music corresponding to the chosen alarm play after a set period of no movement in bed. Hourly Chime allows the user to enable a chime corresponding to the chosen alarm, with sounds repeating the same number of times as the current hour. When set, the ''Super Mario Odyssey'' theme shows the time in the [[List of fonts#Modern Super Mario font|modern ''Super Mario'' typeface]]. The set alarm is shown on a sliver of the world map. [[Mario]] and [[Cappy]] walk around the screen, moving relative to where the user is located in front of the device. Between the set bedtime and the upcoming alarm, Mario lies on his back sleeping.

If the user has the hourly chime enabled, each hour Mario will run on screen and jump into a [[? Block]] the number of times corresponding to the hour, collecting [[Coins]], and sometimes a [[Heart (item)|Heart]]. If the user has sleepy sounds enabled, Alarmo will play music from [[Moon Kingdom]]'s Honeylune Ridge for five minutes when the user goes to bed after the set bedtime. ====Intense alarm====
This alarm starts ringing automatically if the user is still in bed 20 minutes after the set alarm time. It is themed after the [[Hat-to-Hat Combat]] mission.

When the alarm starts, [[Bowser]] roars and his introduction theme is played, followed by the first Bowser battle music as heard in the [[Cloud Kingdom]]. Sounds then play of Bowser attacking the user as he does in the game to awaken them. When the user moves, sound effects of hitting Bowser with his boxing glove hat play. When Bowser is hit eight times, he groans and stops attacking, and the alarm is snoozed. If the user stops moving before eight hits, Mario is hit and the power down sound is played.

In snooze mode, the music plays at a lower volume. When the user moves, Mario jumps around, with the sound echoing as it does in Nimbus Arena.

When the user leaves their bed, Bowser is smacked against his ship, and the theme of his airship leaving is played.

===''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe''===
When set, the ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' theme shows the time in the [[List of fonts#Modern Super Mario font|modern ''Super Mario'' typeface]] with a white- and gray-checkered pattern. The set alarm is shown on a layered blue and purple background used in the game's promotional material. Mario will appear driving the [[Standard Kart]] around the screen, moving relative to where the user is located in front of the device. Between the set bedtime and the upcoming alarm, two Toads can be seen doing maintenance on Mario's kart.

If the user has the hourly chime enabled, each hour various characters in the Standard Kart will boost by corresponding to the hour, including Mario, [[Luigi]], [[Toad]], Peach, [[Yoshi]], Bowser, and [[Donkey Kong]], with coins collected in between characters. If the user has sleepy sounds enabled, Alarmo will play music from the Wi-Fi menu for five minutes when the user goes to bed after the set bedtime.

When each alarm starts, the race intro plays followed by [[Lakitu]] counting down and the featured character performing a [[Rocket Start]]. Sound effects of other characters racing along the track play to awaken the user. When the user moves, the clock plays synth notes while the character charges up a [[Mini-Turbo]] by drifting. When eight notes are played, the character successfully performs a Mini-Turbo followed by a [[Jump Boost|trick]], and the alarm snoozes. If the user stops moving before eight notes, the character is hit and spins out instead.

The alarms are themed after various tracks originating from ''[[Mario Kart 8]]''.

The ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' theme shows the time in the white pixel font seen in the game and other [[Nintendo Entertainment System]] games. Mario will appear on the ground, moving relative to where the user is located in front of the device. A [[Brick Block|brick]] can be seen above him replacing one of the dots on the colon in the middle of the time. During the set bedtime, a [[Warp Pipe]] can be seen in place of Mario.

If the user has the hourly chime enabled, Mario will hit the brick as many times as the hours are shown on the screen, collecting [[Coin]]s with every hit. If the user has sleepy sounds enabled, Alarmo will play the night variation of the [[Ground BGM (Super Mario Bros.)|Ground BGM]] heard in ''[[Super Mario Maker 2]]'', at a slower tempo. ==Release==
In North America, Europe, and Japan, Alarmo was initially released for early access to [[Nintendo Switch Online]] members on the [[My Nintendo|My Nintendo Store]] on October 9, 2024. In Australia, members instead register for interest in the product through a two-round lottery system for a chance to pre-purchase it, with the product shipping on November 13, 2024. The first round ended on October 14, and the second on October 28.<ref name=Aus/> Due to high demand, the My Nintendo Store in Japan stopped sales of Alarmo and also switched to a lottery system.<ref name=Japan/> The My Nintendo Store in South Korea also opened applications for a lottery on October 10.<ref name=KR/>
