| A Mistake is an item found in the Paper Mario series. The item is created when Mario mixes ingredients that do not result in an applicable recipe. A Mistake heals only 1 HP and 1 FP. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, the Mistake counts towards finding all the recipes. In the latter, it is the only dish that can be made by both Saffron and Dyllis.

| Mistakes sell for 5 coins in the item shop in Boo Mansion and 20 coins in the item shop in Bowser's Castle in Paper Mario, 3 coins in the item shop in Twilight Town in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, but 1 coin everywhere else. Before Mario gives the Cookbook to Zess T. during her trouble "Seeking legendary book!", a Mistake will be produced if she cooks a Dried Mushroom.
| | A Mistake is an item found in the Paper Mario series. The item is created when Mario mixes incompatible ingredients. A Mistake heals a measly 1 HP and 1 FP. Of course, the goal of cooking is not to make something like this. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, the Mistake counts towards finding all 57/96 recipes. |

|
| In Super Paper Mario, Mistake is the name of two different items. One of them recovers only 1 HP, but also cures poison, while the other can be made by cooking a Sleepy Sheep, which puts multiple enemies to sleep, similar to a Sleepy Sheep itself. In fact, upon using the item, the animation is exactly the same as if the player had used a Sleepy Sheep instead.
| | There are literally hundreds of combinations to receive a Mistake so make sure you know what your cooking. However, a Mistake is actually slightly superior to a Dried Shroom, since it restores 1 HP and 1 FP, compared to the Dried Shroom, which only restores 1 HP. If you cook a Dried Shroom before returning Maitre Delish's Cookbook, you will get a Mistake. If, however, you cook a Dried Shroom AFTER returning the Cookbook, you will get a Shroom Fry instead! Mistakes sell for three coins in Twilight Town, but one coin everywhere else. |

| | In Super Paper Mario there are two types of Mistakes-and one of them is actually useful. By having Saffron cook a Sleepy Sheep she will make another kind of Mistake that puts multiple enemies to sleep. |
| *Chapter 8-2, exactly 10 Mistakes would appear in the third room after answering fake Merlee’s third question, if said option is chosen instead of an Amazy Dayzee or Francis.
