'''Mille Bornes: ''Mario Kart''''' is a ''[[Mario Kart (series)|Mario Kart]]'' version of the popular French board game {{wp|Mille Bornes}}. The game revolves players racing in a 1,000 km circuit split into sections called milestones; the object of the game is to travel through the entire circuit and be the first to cross the finish line. While the board game only specifies it as being based on ''Mario Kart'', it is heavily based on ''[[Mario Kart 7]]'', with the packaging featuring a modified version of the [[:File:MK7 Groupart.png|box art]] of said game featuring [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], [[Princess Peach]], [[Bowser]], [[Yoshi]], and [[Donkey Kong]] racing on {{classic link|3DS|Toad Circuit}}, along with the pawns and cards featuring other promotional artwork for the game.

==Setup==

First, the player needs to place the board in the center of the table and put the card dispenser to the side. Next, they need to choose a character pawn and place it on the START space. Then, they need to give a Help Card to every player, then place the rest of the cards facedown in the dispenser. All players should look at the cards they received while no-one else is looking. The game starts with the youngest player, and play passes clockwise.

==Gameplay==
On the player's turn, they should take a card from the card dispenser. To start the race, they need to have a "Green Light" Defense Card. If they do, they should place it in front of them. If not, they need to discard one of their cards and place it face up in the dispenser. After placing a "Green Light" card in their area of play, they will have many possibilities on their next turn:
#If they have a Milestone Card, they should place it in their area of play and move their pawn the number spaces indicated on the card.
#If they have an Attack Card, they can place in their area of play of one of their opponents to stop or slow down their advance. They can attack any opponent, including theirselves. If they do decide to attack, they cannot use another Attack Card on their turn. The only exception is the "Speed Limit" Attack Card is it is played with another Attack Card.
#If they were the target of an Attack on their previous turn, they can counter it by placing its corresponding Defense Card in front of them.
#If they have a Protection Card, they should place it in front of them. They will be immune against the attack indicated on the card until the end of the game. Placing a Protection Card nullifies all attacks indicated on the card, and the player has the right to go another turn. They should take another card and continue playing.
#If they cannot play any card, they should put one of their cards in the card dispenser's discard pile.

The player should have six cards in their hand. Their turn ends and play passes to the player on their left. The game continues until one player reaches exactly 1,000 kilometers though Milestone Cards or there are no more cards left in the dispenser. If no-one reaches 1,000 km by the time the dispenser runs out of cars, the player who is the closest to 1,000 km wins the game.

===Milestone Cards===
Playing Milestones Cards advances the player's pawn the number of spaces indicated on the board.
*25 km = 1 space
*50 km = 2 spaces
*75 km = 3 spaces
*100 km = 4 spaces
*200 km = 8 spaces

Note: Every player can only play a maximum of two 200 km cards.

===Attack and Defense Cards===
By using Attack Cards, other players can stop or reduce the player's speed. To prevent this from occurring, they can play their corresponding Defense Cards.
*Red Light: This Attack Card prevents their opponents from playing a Milestone Card until they play a "Green Light" Defense Card.
*Speed Limit: This Attack Card prevents their opponents from playing a Milestone Card greater than 50 km. This card is nullified with the "End of Speed Limit" Defense Card.
*Out of Gas: This Attack Card prevents their opponents from playing a Milestone Card until they play a "Gas" Defense Card.
*Flat: This Attack Card prevents their opponents from playing a Milestone Card until they play a "Spare Tire" Defense Card.
*Accident: This Attack Card prevents their opponents from playing a Milestone Card until they play a "Repair" Defense Card.

===Protection Cards===
Playing a Protection Card makes the player immune to the attacks indicated on the card until the end of the game.
*Right-of-Way: When the player plays this Protection Card, their opponents cannot attack them with a "Red Light" Attack Card or a "Speed Limit" Attack Card.
*Gas Tank: When the player plays this Protection Card, their opponents cannot attack them with an "Out of Gas" Attack Card.
*Puncture-Proof Tire: When the player plays this Protection Card, their opponents cannot attack them with a "Flat" Attack Card.
*Flying Ace: When the player plays this Protection Card, their opponents cannot attack them with an "Accident" Attack Card.

===Coup===
If the player immediately counters an opponent's Attack Card with the corresponding Protection Card, they should yell "''Coup!''" They should then place the nullified Attack Card in the discard pile. They then should take another card from the card dispenser to have six cards in their hand and continue playing. If there are other players between their attacker and themselves, they lose their turn.
