Mecha Yoshi is | Mecha Yoshi is an original Yoshi form that only appears in the last chapter of the Yoshi's Safari story arc in Super Mario-kun volume 9.
While searching for Bowser and the Crystal Kinoko, to save the Mushroom Kingdom from the chaotic force afflicting it, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Birdo arrive in Jewelry Land. The chaos afflicting the land is turning all his inhabitants and visitors into electric appliances: King Fret and Prince Pine fell victim of this, turning into an anthropomorphic TV and a Super Scope respectively, but even Luigi and Birdo are immediately affected and turned into robot heads and are left with the king, while Yoshi, Mario and the transformed Prince Pine continue the journey.
When they finally arrive at Bowser's Castle, Yoshi also is turned into a robot version of himself. Differently from Luigi and Birdo, nothing really changes that hinders their progress, and Yoshi is now able to store the Crystal Kinoko in his openable behind. While showing off this, a Boomerang Brother steals the exposed mushroom, and then attacks them. Yoshi's head is taken away by a boomerang and, returning to the sender, Yoshi (still in function) manages to eat the enemy, defeating it. Mario then reattaches the head and they reach Bowser. During the battle, Mario uses Yoshi's metal body as a shield and, when Bowser is defeated, the Crystal Kinoko retrieved and the chaos is wished away, all the transformed victims return to normal, including Yoshi, who does not report any of the injuries he had a few moments ago.
