The following is an alphabetical list of Super Mario-related sightings and references in tabletop games, including role-playing games, board games, and card games.
Pokémon Trading Card Game[edit]
The Pokémon Trading Card Game has two Pokémon cards named whose names can be translated to Mario Pikachu and Luigi Pikachu, released as promo cards during the XY Series as part of the "Mario Pikachu" promotion which also included plushies. The attacks printed on the cards also reference abilities and items from the Super Mario series.
Magic: the Gathering[edit]
The Creature card Spikeshell Harrier, released in the 2025 set Aetherdrift, depicts a robotic turtle within a spiky blue shell, rolling on a single wheel down a track in a racing event. Its flavor text indicates it locks onto a target to collide with them. The card references the Spiny Shell from the Mario Kart series. The resemblance has been noted by several online publications. Lead designer of the game Mark Rosewater received a question about Spikeshell Harrier being a good way to reference other properties.[1]
