Octopus (character)
Template:Character-infobox The Octopus, is a giant octopus that guarded treasure from both Mario and the diver from Octopus.
History
Game & Watch Gallery
In Octopus, the Octopus guarded sunken treasure from the player. It would attempt to grab the player, and if it was successful, the game would register a miss.
In Game & Watch Gallery a port of the original octopus exists where it is played exactly the same, and so the Octopus's role is the same, however a remake also exists in which Mario replaces the diver and goes down to steal the Octopus's treasure, Mario however would not just let the Octopus grab and attack him and would sacrafice his treasure to use as a weapon and throw it at the Octopus, stunning which ever tenticle was hit temporarily.
Game & Watch Gallery 4
In Game & Watch Gallery 4 another port of the original Octopus is unlockable and playable, it is a more authentic port than the one seen in Game & Watch Gallery. Another remake also appears, this time the Octopus had the ability to change colour, and it did so each time Mario stole 200 pieces of treasure from it, Mario can fight it back again this time again by throwing his treasure sack at it, which makes it recoil and cry.
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
The Octopus appears in a microgame in WarioWare: Smooth Moves in which the player must raise the Wii Remote at the correct time for the diver to escape the Octopus.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
During the events of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it is revealed that with help from a Smash Ball Mr. Game & Watch has the ability to become the Octopus, he does this simply by grabbing the Smash Ball and transforming. Here the Octopus is invincible and powerful enough to even KO Bowser in one hit. This is also the first time it is seen outside of water and on land, however it most likly is on land because it is a transformed Mr. Game & Watch. A trophy of the Octopus can be unlocked by completeing All-Star mode with Mr. Game & Watch, the trophy depicts the Octopus attacking Mario and Luigi.
