Shadow the Hedgehog is a prominent anti-hero in the Sonic the Hedgehog series of video games like Wario from the Mario series. He was created to be the ultimate life-form by Dr. Eggman's grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. Shadow does whatever is necessary to achieve his goals, and because of this he has fought both alongside and against Sonic the Hedgehog. Shadow's primary abilities are his supersonic speed and ability to use Chaos Emeralds to manipulate time and space.

Shadow is a playable character in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, where he is on Sonic's team. His character type is Speed, tieing him with Sonic.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Shadow appears as an unlockable Assist Trophy character, using his Chaos Control to slow down time. He is unlocked by simply unlocking Sonic himself.
