Grumblump Inferno, otherwise named World Bowser-7, is the seventh standard course and eighth overall level in World Bowser from Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, becoming accessible after the completion of A Beam in the Dark. It is the only appearance of Grumblumps, living blocks that roll along preset paths on the lava. Completion of this level unlocks both Motley Bossblob's Encore and Hisstocrat Returns.

Layout[edit]

The level is set above a sea of lava, with isolated castle-esque structures found throughout. It starts on a platform with a wide Grumblump nearby. As the player steps on the Grumblump, two Skipsqueaks drop down onto it and walk along the sides as it rolls, demonstrating to the player how to maneuver while riding it. The Grumblump follows a short straight path to a smaller island and another Grumblump, this one cube-shaped. It follows a more intricate path, including two drops and two Fire Piranha Plants on pillars by the sides of the course. What follows is a sizeable section on solid ground, starting with a platform with some ? Blocks, an arched bridge leading to two Hammer Bros, and a sequence of Jump Panels that elevate the player to the Checkpoint Flag.

The third Grumblump slides down a lava slope, ending up between two Hammer Bros before a second slope, taking the player to an island which houses some Splorches. The fourth and final Grumblump is wide and transports couples of Skipsqueaks, similarly to the first one. After a long path with several turns and a final sliding section, it eventually transports the player to the Goal Pole.
