This tutorial will teach you how to make a signature.

Creation

  1. Create a page for your signature here.
  2. Edit the page and insert this text:
    Username
  3. Replace "Username" with your username.

Customization

If you want your name to appear in a different color or font, replace the text on the signature page with this:

<span style="color:#f00;font-family:serif">Username</span>

If you want to link to your talk page and your contributions page, insert this text at the end of the signature page:

(talk | contribs)

Be sure to follow all rules outlined in MarioWiki:Signatures. Once you have the signature created, click save.

Preparing for usage

Go to your preferences, then change the text in the signature box to this:

Make sure the "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link to your user page)" option is checked and save your preferences. You can now just click the signature button in the editing toolbar to enter your signature and a timestamp.

Using your signature

Now that your signature is set up, here's how it works:

Syntax Turns into Appears as Mainly used for
~~~  Username (talk | contribs) Signing your name
~~~~  7:53, 1 February 2025 (UTC) Username (talk | contribs) 7:53, 1 February 2025 (UTC) Talk page discussion
~~~~~ 7:53, 1 February 2025 (UTC) 7:53, 1 February 2025 (UTC) Recording of date and time
Where not to use your signature
Certain pages do not allow these signatures to be used on them, a majority of them being MarioWiki namespace pages. You can tell when not to use signatures when the page mentions that it follows the "no-signature policy". For more information about the policy, check this page.
