Identifiers[edit]

Is there a way to use abbreviations for links with identifiers? For example, typing [[Target Terror (Donkey Kong Country 2)|Target Terror]] as {{a|Target Terror|DKC2}} to output Target Terror? Super Mario RPG (talk) 13:41, December 26, 2024 (EST)

{{id|Target Terror|DKC2}} --Steve (talk) Get Firefox 14:48, December 26, 2024 (EST)

Headings[edit]

Is this template allowed for usage in section headings or would that mess up transcluding to certain sections? Super Mario RPG (talk) 10:28, December 28, 2024 (EST)

It messes up section links in the edit summary box, breaking their ability to link directly to the section, so it should be avoided. --Steve (talk) Get Firefox 11:36, December 31, 2024 (EST)

Episodes[edit]

Is there a way to allow episode titles to be added to this? For example, "Mighty McMario and the Pot of Gold" as "SMBSS|MMMPG," with the pipe dividing the show title from the episode title, or would that require a separate template altogether? Super Mario RPG (talk) 13:46, December 28, 2024 (EST)

Couldn't do it with a pipe. But we could use a character to indicate "level 2" abbreviations such as : and add "SMBSS:MMMPG" to the list --Steve (talk) Get Firefox 13:54, December 28, 2024 (EST)
Yeah, that would work too. Super Mario RPG (talk) 13:58, December 28, 2024 (EST)

Have issues with some abbreviations[edit]

I do understand that "SMBW" and "SMS" and "MKDD" may be immediately recognized in the wiki for most editors, but there are some abbreviations that might spell trouble like "DM", "Y". I do think not all games should have abbreviated counterparts, but what to distinguish between common and uncommon abbreviations might open another debate. Mario It's me, Mario!
