"Super Mario" is an Italian opening theme song to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! It was performed by Cristina D'Avena, an Italian personality who sang numerous theme songs for animated series in the 1980s and 1990s. The song was composed by Massimiliano Pani and the lyrics were written by Alessandra Valeri Manera.[1]
This song served as the show intro and outro in the original Italian airings in place of "The Mario Rap" and "Do the Mario." A Spanish adaptation was also used as the show intro for the original Castilian Spanish airings.[2]
Later airings use a translated version of the original songs, written and sung by Emanuele Arnone.

(Davvero?)
|
With Super Mario, who knows what will happen here and now
He's a daredevil who goes into fairy tales here and there
With great courage he'll save those who get into trouble
What a cunning guy, here he is!
(Really?)
|
Che tosto Super Mario, coi baffi all'insù
|
He has only a blue shirt and goofy red overalls
He has with him a little mushroom who always wears a vest
What a tough guy, Super Mario, with an upturned moustache
He always throws himself into everything headfirst
What a blast, Super Mario, if he gets any fatter
He'll become rounder than a porthole!
|
|
With Super Mario, it is necessary for the dream to come true
With Super Mario, imaginary becomes reality!
With Super Mario, it is necessary for the dream to come true
With Super Mario, imaginary becomes reality!

The in-show version ends here. The following are the lyrics to the extended version.

With Super Mario, who knows what will happen here and now
He will always be muddle-headed, he will find many friends
He is an ageless character, full of liveliness
What a cunning guy, here he is!
