Bombs Away on Pirate Island is the first level of Chilly-Hot Isles, the twenty-sixth level overall of Yoshi's Crafted World, and the only appearance of Uckykongs.

Overview[edit]

Front side[edit]

The level starts out with an Ukiki, with two sets of three coins nearby and a Winged Cloud between them Yoshi can hit to make ten more coins appear. Next up is an Egg Plant. After that, Yoshi finds a Winged Cloud with a Clawdaddy below it and a Shy Guy above it. Yoshi can hit this Winged Cloud to get some more coins. Yoshi can also hop onto the platform with the Shy Guy and jump high to the left to find a Smiley Flower in a circle of coins. After an Ukiki climbing up a rope, there is a Shy Guy, then an Ukiki on a rope who drops missiles. Next to him is a moving Winged Cloud Yoshi can hit to get three Red Coins. The last Shy Guy of this section comes after this.

Yoshi must then board a craft boat with a cannon, allowing him to shoot cannonballs at obstacles in close range. Yoshi must start by Ground Pounding the button to activate the cannon, shooting a cannonball at a large bell. Doing this wakes up the Uckykong nearby, who blows a puff of air at the boat's sails. As the boat starts moving, two other Uckykongs wave in the background. Throughout this section, Yoshi can fire more and more cannonballs at enemies close in the background to get treasures. First up, there is a Shy Guy holding up a red coin, a Shy Guy holding up a Heyho Coin Bag, and a Shy Guy holding up a 10 Coin. As Yoshi fires cannonballs, Cheep Cheeps jump out of the water, flop on the boat, and get back into the water. At this point, there are two Shy Guys atop two targets. After this, there are four Shy Guys holding Heyho Coin Bags running in outlined patterns. After them, there are three more Shy Guys. Two hold up 10 Coins, while the one in the middle carries a Smiley Flower. Yoshi can fire a cannonball to defeat them and automatically collect both the flower and all the coins. There is then a group of Shy Guys holding up a box of explosives, with four Shy Guys running with Heyho Coin Bags nearby. Firing a cannonball at the box of explosives causes a blast which wipes out all the remaining enemies. At the end of this section, Yoshi gets off the boat and reaches the first Check Point.

Soon after the first checkpoint, there is a Cheep Cheep which flops out of the water. In the middle of this, there is a hidden Winged Cloud Yoshi can hit to reveal a few coins, as well as three 10 Coins. After that, there is a Ukiki on a rope, then two Shy Guys, then an Egg Block with a Smiley Flower and a Clawdaddy below it. Just to the right of this is a Winged Cloud containing five hearts. Here, there is a Shy Guy with three blocks Yoshi can break to get to three coins, the coin in the middle being a red coin. Yoshi must then break another layer of blocks and get past a Clawdaddy to enter a cove. Yoshi can defeat the first Clawdaddy that appears in the cove to make ten coins appear, including three red coins. There are then two Shy Guys. Above them are blocks Yoshi can break. If Yoshi breaks the middle block, it drops down a spring, allowing him to bounce up to coins and a Smiley Flower. Further in the cove, there are more Ukikis on ropes. They drop down missiles, which break the blocks below. There is a block on the left side Yoshi can hit to make three red coins fly out. On the right side is a hidden Winged Cloud Yoshi can hit to reveal a circle of coins with the fifth Smiley Flower in the center.

Once Yoshi makes it out of the cove, there is a Shy Guy, with a Roulette Block nearby allowing Yoshi to get one to twenty coins. There is also a 10 Coin nearby Yoshi can get to. Here, in the background, Yoshi can spot a present box atop a red, octopus-like craft. This present box contains multiple coins as well as a red coin. Just above this is a Winged Cloud containing five hearts. To the right, Yoshi finds a Shy Guy below an Egg Block. There is an Ukiki nearby on a rope, dropping missiles at blocks below. This reveals a tight space with three Clawdaddies. If Yoshi gets past all of them, he reaches another Smiley Flower. The second Check Point comes next.

After the second checkpoint, Yoshi comes across a broken ship. To repair it, Yoshi must find three parts in the area. In one part of the area, there are three Winged Clouds circling together. One contains three red coins, one contains five hearts, and the other contains some coins. The cannon part is to the very right of this area, behind two Clawdaddies. Above it, there is a Shy Guy with three stacked blocks. If Yoshi breaks one of these blocks, three red coins fly out. The second part, the cannon button, is carried by a Shy Guy walking along a rock formation. The ship's sail is rolled up, and is found in the foreground to the very left, after three Ukikis on ropes. After getting all the parts, Yoshi must head back to the broken ship and toss the parts at it to repair it. This ship is slightly larger and has two cannons: a smaller one that fires close in the background, and a larger cannon that fires farther into the background. Yoshi must hit the button for the smaller cannon to ring the bell, prompting an Uckykong to blow a puff of air at the sails, causing the ship to start moving.

In this last section, Shy Guys appear aboard boats and ships in the background, with cannons of their own on board. They fire these cannons at Yoshi's ship, at either the smaller or larger cannon. Yoshi must use his own cannons to fire at the other boats, sinking them into the water after landing a successful hit. After a few ships, there is a speedy Shy Guy with a Heyho Coin Bag. Each time Yoshi sinks a boat, he earns some coins. Yoshi must sink a ship further in the background to get the last three red coins. Shortly after this, there is a very large ship with six Shy Guys and six cannons. Each time Yoshi hits the ship, it sinks a bit more. After a few hits, the ship falls apart, and everything falls into the water, automatically earning Yoshi some coins, along with the last Smiley Flower. After this section, Yoshi simply needs to get off his ship, then walk right to the goal.

Flip side[edit]

  • In the first section, where Yoshi shoots cannonballs at boats and ships, the cyan Poochy Pup appears on the tip of a boat in the background. Yoshi must fire a cannonball at the boat to sink it, automatically collecting the pup.
  • At the start of the cove section, the black Poochy Pup is hanging onto the middle rope with an Ukiki.
  • In the second cannonball section, the pink Poochy Pup is being chased by a group of Shy Guys.

Where to find a Smiley Flower Just before the end of the second cannon section, there is a rather large ship with six Shy Guys and six cannons. Yoshi must fire cannonballs at this ship until it floods and sinks completely into the water, automatically earning him the seventh and final Smiley Flower.

Three more Smiley Flowers are awarded for collecting at least 100 coins in the level, completing the level with 20 hearts, and collecting all 20 Red Coins. In the flip side, three are awarded for bringing all three Poochy Pups to the goal, and one more for doing so within three minutes and 30 seconds.
