Atari, Inc. was an American company that focused on game development and home computers, founded in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. It developed many ports of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Mario Bros. for home computers. Aside from ports from the Super Mario and Donkey Kong franchises, Atari, Inc. is also known for games such as Pong. Atari, Inc. became defunct in 1992; despite this, two successor companies under the Atari brand name remained extant: Atari Corporation and Atari Games, which both later went defunct in 1996[1] and 2003, respectively.
