Dark Locomotive
The Dark Locomotive is a vehicle in Princess Peach: Showtime!, where it appears in two of the four stages that Cowgirl Peach appears in. In Cowgirl at Dusk it is an entirely offroad vehicle that drives on dirt roads, while in The Dark Locomotive & the Doomed Town it drives on conventional tracks.
The locomotive uses a combustion motor that runs on an unspecified yellow glowing substance, and the speed is low enough that a galloping horse can catch up to it. When including the roof exhaust pipe, it is roughly 4 times the height of Peach. The front drivers are members of the Sour Bunch. It pulls a frequently fluctuating amount of wagons, often changing from one sequence to the next.
To the extent that cargo is carried, it is mostly milk barrels, crates, sandbags, coins and Sparkle Gems.
When on the roofs, Peach is able to fall down the gaps between the wagons, at which point she loses one HP. The horse can however run across the gap without needing to jump.
Cowgirl at Dusk[edit]
It first appears near the start of the stage, initially smashing through and destroying four buildings on the left edge of an unnamed Wild West-styled village, and pulls four wagons at that point.
After Peach has jumped onto a wagon from the horse, it pulls six wagons. As Peach then walks forwards on the roofs, 17 wagons are being pulled, all of which are in bad shape, with Sour Bunch members additionally trying to shoot her through the roofs with rubber bullets. Should Peach fall down between the wagons, she will respawn on the rearmost wagon. Some of the wagons have broken walls and/or have wheels falling off, and all 17 gradually snap off from the locomotive.
Wagon 9 from the front has Ribboner and two Theets on board. The former wonders where his seat is (of which there are none), while the latter ones beg Peach to save them. By the time Peach arrives at the front wagon as it too snaps off, the exact fates of the three Theets are unknown, though the Ribboner is known to have got away in perfectly good health.
With the locomotive now driving solo, the horse returns to let Peach ride on it. Peach eventually throws a barrel into the motor to make the locomotive unstable and then pulls off its rear right wheel. The locomotive then pitches up approximately 15° but still operates at full speed, chasing Peach while smashing through small boulders on its way. It then hits a large boulder on the top lane that smashes the front and makes it veer right between approximately 20° and 75° and only has one wheel touch the track, but is still able to drive at near full speed in that state, although Peach pulls off the roof exhaust pipe at her own pace to stop it at last.
The Dark Locomotive & the Doomed Town[edit]
It pulls eight wagons in the first section, all of which are gone in the second section.
In the first section, it is heading on a straight towards Cowgirl Sparkla who is tied up to a small pole in the middle of the track. Peach rides on the horse to get ahead just in time to free the Sparkla with either her lasso or by ramming into the pole.
In the second section, although it is able to drive sideways on a semi-corrupted side road at one point, it is not able to jump over the final gap that Peach and Cowgirl Sparkla jump across.
