World 2-3 is the seventh of eight available stages in "VS Game" and "You VS. Boo" in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

Layout

The stage consists almost entirely of various Spike Trap clusters to get past, often by jumping across them at full speed, while some on ground altitude can be run under as Small Mario. Two short sections resemble two-floored parts of World 3-3, but the upper parts act as roofs and can not be jumped on top of.

Two sections can not be handled with full speed alone. A long Spike Trap section that go slightly upwards after the first roofed section, where the players must choose whether to brake slightly to hit the preceding 3-2-1 Block, or if the player is Super/Fire Mario to jump straight ahead into the Spike Traps at full speed to attempt to use the invincibility frames to get across.

After some clusters that only Small Mario can run under, a large sharp upwards staircase appears, whose Spike Traps must be toggled off to get above, with even invincibility frames being nearly impossible to use as a substitute. Trying to jump onto the 3-2-1 Block on the left to jump up to the stairs from there, will usually bump into an invisible block up and slightly right of the 3-2-1 Block.

After additional Spike Trap clusters are passed, the players reach the Goal Pole.

"You VS. Boo" times

  • Defeat White Boo: Reach the Goal Pole before the timer hits 162.
  • Defeat Green Boo: Reach the Goal Pole before the timer hits 203.
  • Defeat Red Boo: Reach the Goal Pole before the timer hits 226.
