Lightning Round is a 4-Player coin-collecting minigame appearing in Super Mario Party. Its name is a pun on a phrase that refers to a round in a game or contest that gives players a certain amount of time to accomplish as much as possible.

Introduction[edit]

A Sumo Bro flies in on a floating platform. It stomps twice, sending out electric sparks to opposite sides of the main platform. The players then drop in on the main platform, and the minigame begins.

Gameplay[edit]

In this minigame, players must collect coins that appear while avoiding sparks from a Sumo Bro. If any player hits a spark, they lose three coins. A second Sumo Bro appears after five seconds have passed, and the game ends once 15 seconds have passed.

On Challenge Road, this is the sixth challenge of Chestnut Forest and the 16th challenge overall. For the normal challenge, the player must get at least 15 coins without getting hit, while for the Master Challenge, the player must get at least 20 coins without getting hit.

Ending[edit]

All players that earned coins perform their victory animations, while players with no coins perform their losing animations.
