Peach's kart does not change color depending on the character!!!!!!
I'M MAD. Everytime if I add the fact that a orange kart is in the game wich is similiar to the Birthday Girl, it's removed. Then the "not-fact" that the Birthday Girl changes color is added. THAT'S UNTRUE. Metal Mario is seen driving it. It was pink. Yoshi was seen driving it. It was pink. So, WHAT? That orange kart is seen driven by Daisy. It's not the Birthday Girl. ~ Qyzxf (talk)
It changes on the color depending on the females. It changes on Peach,Daisy,Rosalina, and Queen Bee. But no one will put that it changes on females only. i got blocked once becasue of an edit war in MK7 so im not riskin anything. -PokeLucas
- I also tried to put that the Classic Kart/Pipe Frame changes color depending on the character. (In the Japanese website Shy Guy is seen driving a Black Classic Kart). But It always gets deleted! It is in the little "movie" that comes with the characters.
- And just why should it be removed when it pertains to information related to an article? I believe this is what talk pages are for. Lord Grammaticus 03:33, 10 December 2011 (EST)
It is the Birthday Girl. Have you unlocked Daisy or Rosalina? When you select them their kart will be orange/cyan respectively. Thanks. RedShell

Track names
So for some tracks we now have two or three different names for the courses, Japanese translation, European, and North American. Which one are we suppose to use? For instance....when the Star Cup was first revealed the first course was called Piranha Slider. ONM in Europe is calling in Piranha Plant Pipeway, while videos from the LA Auto Show show it as Piranha Plant Slide....so what are we going to do in cases like these? --SinnohMasterGalaxy 10:41, 19 November 2011 (EST)
- Our naming conventions would be to go with whatever English translation is released first worldwide I believe. Bop1996 (Talk)
- But doesn't that make it messy? Nintendo Power in North America called it Cheep Cheep Lagoon before ONM called it Cheep Cheep Cape. It doesn't really make sense to use names from various translations. --SinnohMasterGalaxy 10:50, 19 November 2011 (EST)
I agree with SinnohMasterGalaxy. Names like Wuhu Island Loop do not make sense. The Wuhu Island is the flipping island! So why call the other one "Wuhu Mountain Loop"?!? User:YoshiKart7
I mean, gees... You might just as well call Coconut Mall by it's european name, "Coconut Promenade/Marketplace" or call Mushroom Gorge by it's european name, "Mushroom Cliff" or even call Rainbow Road by it's European name, "Rainbow Boulevard/Track"!! User:YoshiKart7
Please don't type with caps, also why cross out the other comments?.
Donaldthescotishtwin
- @YoshiKart7 Where did you get those strange names? I'm European and never heard of them. They doesn't exist. And, all articles have the European names (Karts in MKW, DK's Snowboard Cross) ~ Qyzxf (talk)
@Toad'ShyGuy Those strange names are real. However, they are not used in the English version, but they are used in the German version. I did some research and I found out that some track names of Mario Kart 7 are indeed different between the European/Australian version and the American version. Because of the rules, we need to use the European/Australian names. Here is a list of course names with different names (EU fist, US second):
- Cheep Cheep Cape = Cheep Cheep Lagoon
- Wuhu Island Loop = Wuhu Loop
- Melody Motorway = Music Park
There are probabley a little more course names that may differ from between the versions, however I haven't found enough source. Here is some footage of the Leaf Cup (US version), but this video also shows a bit of the menu, with US track names. rend (talk) (edits)
- What do you mean by rules we have to use the EU/AU names? I just think it actually makes more sense to go with the NA names since they are the same as the Japanese ones. Not to mention all of the NA track names are known now and I don't believe that the EU/AU have all their tracks named yet. --SinnohMasterGalaxy 00:40, 22 November 2011 (EST)
- It's simple. If the game is released first in Europe, we use European names. But if the game released first in North America, we use North American names. Because this game will be released in Europe before America, we use European names. Those are the rules. Even though the American names are mostly the same as the Japanese ones, this isn't a reason to use the American names instead. For example, Art Style: PiCTOBiTS (NA name) is called Art Style: PiCOPiCT in Japan, but it's also called Art Style: PiCOPiCT in Europe. But because it released in America before Europe, we still use the American name, even though the Japanese name is the same as the European name. I would also like to point out that not all the car parts have been revealed yet. Not all the car parts can be confirmed before the release, but some parts probably have different names in Europe as well. If the is game released in Europe, we can more easily add those car parts to MarioWiki, because we don't have to wait for the American name to be revealed. rend (talk) (edits)
- Thanks for clarification. I wasn't sure if you meant the game being released first or the names. --SinnohMasterGalaxy 11:25, 22 November 2011 (EST)

Kart Names
Classic Kart Changed To Pipe Frame, Royal Ribbon Changed Back To Birthday Girl --SuperLuigiKart 14:06, 22 November 2011 (EST)
Should we only add the European names for the karts in the Kart Customizing, or should we add both the European and North American names for the karts.
User:Username8cp
- Trying the strategy with the course names -- list Nintendo of Europe's names first and link them, then place beside it the names from Nintendo of America's respective versions whenever it's applicable. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 21:21, 22 November 2011 (EST)
Am I the only one that thinks the Tiny Tug and "the boat-like kart" are the same? I'm pretty sure that a tug is a type of boat and tug can't mean anything else. Know what I'm sayin'? Unless someone gives me proof that they're different, I'll find out this Christmas. KoopaKiller13 21:53, 22 November 2011 (EST)
If it's not confirmed then you should just leave it until we know for sure that "the boat-like kart" is the Tiny Tug or not. Username8cp
One of the karts on the list reads Royal Ribbon. Is that the PAL name for the Birthday Girl (NTSC-U name)? I'm asking, because when it comes time to make the kart articles, the North American names will have to be made as redirects (just like with Mario Kart Wii). M&SG (talk) 09:30, 23 November 2011 (EST)
Retro Tracks/Stages
I noticed that the game for each retro track is gone. For example N64 Luigi Raceway has been changed to Luigi Raceway (without the "N64" beside the name). Is this better or should we change it back? Username8cp
- Well, as I put in one of the edit summaries, even though the game itself shows the system abbreviations in regards to which courses the retro tracks came from, the N64, GBA, etc. links were pointing to the games themselves. It's better to just have the course names on there and just link to their respective articles instead, IMO. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 22:09, 22 November 2011 (EST)
For stages like SNES Rainbow Road, people that have never played a Mario Kart game before wouldn't know which game that Rainbow Road is from when their looking at the page. I'm not trying to say that you have to change it back or that you should. User:Username8cp
- Actually, the game itself would. I understand where you're coming from on that case, though. Besides, if the developers didn't attach the abbreviations (line SNES Rainbow Road), it's an immediate red flag in terms of consistency with saying which installment that course originally came from. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 22:20, 22 November 2011 (EST)
- I suspect that someone else checked this section too, and this has caused me to overrule said edits of taking links out of the article itself. The grounds were -- the system abbreviations were to be link to the game articles in question AND other articles have attempted this approach since Mario Kart DS. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! Coins
Has Nintendo confirmed that coins will have the same function as in the original or Super Circuit? I ask because there's no citation and I haven't seen any videos that show the coins working like that. --LazyLord777 05:11, 23 November 2011 (EST)
I believe 10 coins give you extra speed like in the old days, but nobody said anything about other functions (than again, nobody said that they won't). KoopaKiller13 08:13, 23 November 2011 (EST)
Here is some information about coins! rend (talk) (edits)
Hey! I do agree with koopa killer, what he said is right- they DO Give you a bosst once you collect 10 coins, and I also know that they do not effect your score in the end like on Mario kart Super Circuit. You can use them to buy Karts, tires, and Gliders as well. There aren't many obstacles in the air or underwater, so the coin floating underwater give a good thing to while you are floating in the water. Plus, they are fun to collect!

The unlocking criteria
Where did we get this from and is the source generally reliable? KoopaKiller13 15:31, 23 November 2011 (EST)
Also, why are we suddenly taking the current revealed roster as Gospel? I thought it had been decided that it would be considered "current" instead of "this is how it is" until the game is released. As in the past (including but, not limited to Mario Kart Wii) websites have never updated to the full roster? I just think we need a more reliable source. And I would like to emphasis again ... this site that has given us the unlocking criteria, are the generally a reliable source? Considering the game hasn't been released anywhere ... hm? Despot_joil
- They make previews of games, so, the information that provide is likewise reliable. I'm aware that the character's list will go to a further expansion, but we need to adhere to the current situation (although the same source that tell the unlocking criteria says that they don't want to put more information about that, but that's pretty biased and could not mention directly to the characters)
Wait...doesn't that mean THEY REALLY DID CUT WALUIGI? CoolTom1337 04:45, 24 November 2011 (EST)
Should I add a spoiler warning? Lily
- According to this proposal, no. SWFlash
@CoolTom1337 Would you people stop already with Wa-freakin'-luigi? He left, he got the axe, HE GOT TAKEN OUT, DAMN IT! Just leave it alone! If you want to see him, play a different game. You don't have to stop moping about, you just can't mope HERE! KoopaKiller13 12:05, 26 November 2011 (EST)
And you don't exactly need to complain about their moping. It doesn't contribute to the topic. Speaking of contributing to the topic, there is still a chance for anything to happen, as apparently there are some things that they "can't talk about yet." MarioComix 16:50, 26 November 2011 (EST)
Are you trying to imply they axed him out of the Mario series altogether? Tomkid600 is too legit to quit...he's back in the form of CoolTom1337! 05:22, 6 December 2011 (EST)
No, I'm just saying he was cut from this game and you should stop mentioning him. Although, a recent 3DS update is giving the ability for DLC, so if he's a future add-on, you're free to speak about said character. I'm just tired of Waluigi this and Waluigi that. Know what I'm sayin'? KoopaKiller13 20:50, 10 December 2011 (EST)
- I'd ask why people are flipping out over this to begin with, but that'd imply I was remotely surprised.
To contribute to the discussion, should we add on said article that the roster shown is not final, and that more drivers may be added in the future? Lord Grammaticus 22:18, 10 December 2011 (EST)
- Only if you can get an official source that says the roster isn't final and may be adjusted in the future. Just because the 3DS has the ability to receive DLC doesn't mean MK7 will get any. Mario4Ever (talk)
- I never said that this game WILL have DLC. I'm saying that it CAN have it if Nintendo wanted it to. I have no sources saying that MK7 has PLANNED DLC. Currently, our current roster is final. KoopaKiller13 16:41, 14 December 2011 (EST)

Suprises
According to one of the Mario Kart 7 sources, there will be suprises revealed on December, 4 when the game is released. However I am still rather skeptical because the so called "suprises" are only mentioned on one source. However if this isn't fake, that could mean some of the suprises could be, regular VS player mode, more drivable characters, and more karts and customizable pieces. That means we shouldn't be assuming that everything is confirmed, like everyone has been doing. -User:FireFlower

Blue Shy Guy
Look at that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otM5czMJ1L0&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Shy Guy is blue. It probably confirms that he has alternate colors. So, we can imagine Yoshi has alternate colors to.
Or, another possibility: Blue Shy Guy is another secret character. But I don't think so. Fire-Luigi 14:11, 29 November 2011 (EST)
Nintendo would probably think alternative colors would be useless. They're only in the baseball series to fill up the teams. But they should be in the MK series, because I hate racing against exact duplicates of characters in wi-fi. KoopaKiller13 16:48, 30 November 2011 (EST)
I personally think its either for download play as said above or just some guy wanting attention by editing the color himself. User:JORDANDEBONO Does anyone agree?

On the Japanese website there is some new art of characters found as downloadable desktop backgrounds. Here is a link: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/amkj/wallpaper/index.html I'm unsure if they will be helpful. However as they are new character art I thought I'd share. I have yet been unable to find much more information since the Japanese release. Despot_joil
- I think if you can copy the pics from the vids of the Special and Lightning cup or the desktop, you can add them. PokeLucas (talk)
- If this is the real deal (which I'm 90% sure it is), those said arts seen on those wallpapers will be relayed to the press outside of Japan soon enough, but don't hold me on that. Kart Parts
My brother just got the game and there is something I would like to point out. We all know that you can unlock kart parts by collecting coins. MarioWiki now has a list that shows how to unlock the kart parts. According to the MarioWiki, by collecting 50 coins, the player will receive the Red Monster wheels, however my brother received the B Dasher kart frame by collecting 50 coins. All the other parts my brother unlocked are also different then the MarioWiki tells. Why? The player will never know which part he/she will unlock next because the kart part the player unlocks is randomly selected. rend (talk) (edits)
- If that so, then the unlocking criteria should talk only the amount of coins to get the parts...
- One more thing! In an Iwata Asks it's also confirmed that it's possible to unlock kart parts with StreetPass. If the player has received StreetPass data with a kart part he/she hasn't unlocked yet, the player must beat the data to receive it's kart part. The kart unlocking system of Mario Kart 7 is probably meant to be flexible. rend (talk) (edits)
Streamliner?
I have two complaints about the Streamliner's presence in this article. First of all, its not even a starting vehicle (Only the standard, Royal Ribbon and Bolt Buggy frames are the starters). Secondly, in the video link, I can't find it. I think it might be confused with the Blue Seven, a kart body that looks a lot like it.
And while I'm at it, I'd just like to point out that the Growlster is the same as the Bruiser, its just the UK name for it. User:ThatWasPeachy

Mii unlock criteria
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Has anyone else noticed this? --SinnohMasterGalaxy 16:44, 9 December 2011 (EST)
- yeah that happened to me too! Mastergiygas 15:39, 1 January 2012 (EST)
It hasn't happened with me, but maybe I have a conclusion. Maybe it is that since the player unlocks Lakitu and Metal Mario by beating the Nitro and Retro cups respectively, whatever cup you beat, Special or Lightning, you will get one of the aformentined characters and because of that, the Mii is blocked from being unlocked. So the Mii is unlocked by beating 50 or 100cc only and not 150. -'Shroom64: The Mushroomeditor

Official Guide Stats
I picked up the official guide from Prima the other day and it lists loads of hidden character/kart stats that the game doesn't display: Speed (Sea), Speed (Sky), Handling (Sea), Handling (Sky), Mini-Turbo, Stability, and Drift. Every single item and character has hidden stats of this nature. Also, the whole idea that the Standard parts have zero in every stat and that every other part simply adds or subtracts from that is very incorrect and obviously based on guesswork (though I can't blame the guys who came up with it given the lack of proper in-game stat listings). I considered that maybe the guide is massively flawed and working off of a very old beta somehow, but the guide itself mentions that these stats are hidden in-game.
Before I used the guide I used this wiki as the primary stat list for building karts and now I feel like I was sorely misled. I know I'm a new user, so I'm asking here for the go-ahead before I go and post up all the official stats. I really think it would help a lot of people make better decisions; a lot of kart parts specialize in things like sea/air handling or speed, but the game doesn't show that at all. Not to mention very important stats like drift being hidden. Shugo 01:35, 11 December 2011 (EST)
- Yeah, I suggest you wait for a go-ahead. I'm no expert when it comes to this wiki, but confirmation seems ideal.
- Also, if I remember, Prima is considered unreliable by some people, I forget the details on that. Lord Grammaticus 03:08, 11 December 2011 (EST)
- That's mainly because they state incorrect/made up facts about characters and secrets in games. I think the underwater/flying speed just depends on your cart build. Dark Gamer 10:06, 11 December 2011 (EST)
- So far, karts I've tested based on the stats I've gathered from the guide seem to match what the guide says. For example, karts built based on the hidden drift stat that display a poor 'handling' rating in-game give me extreme control over my drift handling while my handling during regular driving is terrible, much like how it worked in Mario Kart Wii. Another example: the guide lists some gliders (Super, Beast, Gold) as giving a LOT of speed specifically while being in the sky (which is actually the advantage to using those gliders; they don't just shift weight a little bit like it says in-game), and I've found that that to be true in-game even though the in-game 'speed' stat for the karts I built to test with were abysmal. I really see no reason to doubt the guide. Shugo 21:47, 11 December 2011 (EST)
The sources that I've gathered from the Mario Kart Wii forums are more reliable, and more accurate as well; the NTSC-U version of Mario Kart 7 displays each kart's stats in "Divisible by 0.25" intervals, with 6 being the maximum. However, what we have inputted for Golden Standard (Gold Kart) seems a bit skeptical in my eyes, since the -0.5 off-road boost is too low for a kart part. Hopefully, someone will get the correct stat boosts for that kart part. M&SG (talk) 12:58, 11 December 2011 (EST)
Mechawave inputted the hidden stats onto the article, but I'm still heavily skeptical with those hidden stats, especially with the Cact-X. The hidden stats claim that the Cact-X weakens off-road when the in-game source states that it boosts off-road. Can someone actually confirm this stuff? If so, please say so below this message. M&SG (talk) 08:07, 31 December 2011 (EST)
- It was an accident. Reading all the stats is really hard, I made a few mistakes transferring the numbers. By the way, the reason why Gold Kart gives off such a huge off-road hinder is because of its stability boost (which not many parts have.) --Mechawave 19:26, 2 January 2012 (EST)
I have made some calculations, and it seems that the hidden stats are true ! Here is the sheet : http://sephirothff7.free.fr/MK7/Hidden_Stats.ods Sentmoraap 20:59, 1 Jaunary 2012 (GMT)
Regarding the stat chart listed here, would it not be much easier to follow if it was listed in terms of a base of 0/6 rather than being relative to the stats of an all-standard setup, with other kart parts adding or subtracting to that total? The idea of it being relative to the standard parts can get kind of unreasonably confusing when trying to figure out specific values. Back when I was writing a stat calculator, I used http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/997822-mario-kart-7/faqs/63500 this as a base, which admittedly was hard to interpret for listing the stats out of 6, but it assumes that each weight class/kart part adds to a base of 0.5/6 instead of subtracting and adding from the standard karts, and is verifiably accurate as far as the five visible stats are concerned. This would make it so instead of having a mix of positive and negative stats, you'd have all positives. Also, as for the stats listed here at the moment, the Ghastly Glider is listed as giving a higher Sky Speed than the Super/Gold gliders, which as far as I'm aware isn't possible; the Super/Gold gliders will max out Speed (Sky) at 5.5/6 in some combos, and no stat in any category ever exceeds 5.5/6, which would happen if the Ghastly Glider did in fact have a higher Sky Speed. -MajorasMask9 11:36, 3 January 2012 (EST)
- The table that Sentmoraap inputted is very confusing to understand, as it does not treat "6" as the unit maximum, and the table that MajorasMask9 inputted is no different. If those tables' units were out of "6", it would be much easier to understand the stat boosts; the NTSC-U Mario Kart 7 stats are divisible by 0.25, and have 6 as the maximum number; 0.25*4=1. M&SG (talk) 13:46, 5 January 2012 (EST)
- That list will work out to be out of 6 with some extra calculations; not sure why they put the list up there the way they did. For example, to find the stat boost for an individual weight class, you'd take the number given for the weight class and divide it by 4. For the kart parts, you'd take the number and divide it by 2. After adding all of the numbers for a combination together, 0.5 is added to the total (which is why I'd just add 0.5 to the weight classes' stats for less confusion), and that gives you the proper stat boost out of 6. MajorasMask9 09:35, 6 January 2012 (EST)
- It's still confusing, considering that the kart parts aren't using negative variables. Obviously, the characters themselves don't have negative stats, since they're the ones that determine your combo's stats if your combo uses only the standard parts. M&SG (talk) 08:16, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- bin.smwcentral.net/u/5196/stats Is it still confusing? All you need to do is add the numbers for your combination together; no negative numbers involved. MajorasMask9 12:21, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- It's better now. Just add the weight class stats with the standard part stats (Standard (Kart); Standard (Wheels); Super Glider) to get the default stats for each class. M&SG (talk) 12:51, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- On second thought, some things are wrong. I inputted the Bowser + Gold Standard + Standard + Super Glider combo, and the list states that the land speed is 4.25, when it's actually supposed to be 4.5. Also, from the sources I've read, the Gold Standard has the worst off-road boost among all the kart bodies. M&SG (talk) 13:03, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- bin.smwcentral.net/u/5196/stats Is it still confusing? All you need to do is add the numbers for your combination together; no negative numbers involved. MajorasMask9 12:21, 7 January 2012 (EST)

Hi, I made a kart calculator in excel with the mario wiki stats. I think it is very usefull for me and my friends. If you want to check out this watch my video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KAAxcctpNU But I currently updated this version a lot. Soon I will upload the new full english version. The new version has got no longer the 4 mistakes about the gold kart and the glider. It is more compact and contains a few more things that are very useful for your bike costumation. Just have a look at it. If you like this can you please add the new video url (ill post it tomorrow) under the chart? (the current version is not so good, but also very usefull) Please give me a feedback. I will tell you for my final version. (hopefully tomorrow)

Ghastly/Beast Glider Unlocking Criteria
So, I had unlocked all the parts via coin collecting, almost. I still had the Soda Jet, B Dasher, Swooper, Beast Glider and Gold parts to unlock. However, I Streetpassed with a guy who had the Soda Jet part, and beat him in a Grand Prix, thus unlocking this kart. I continued collecting coins, but when I got to 4500, I unlocked the Beast Glider! I think that it's not at a set amount. I currently have 4693 coins and I have the Beast Glider. I think that the maximum coins to unlock the Beast Glider is 5000, but it goes down each time you Streetpass. We should probably change that in the article. MarioComix 02:52, 25 December 2011 (EST)
Airship Fortress
On this retro course, bullet bills AND Banzai Bills are shot out of the cannon. What I understand is that they both have the same face, but what I'm pointing at is that their size is different. They're not King Bills, so they have to be bullet bills. I have already added this but its been removed (what a surprise). So now I'm asking for opinions. Please, though, play the course one more time (if you can) before you come here.
- JORDAN DEBONO 11:22, 27 December 2011 (EST)
In my opinion, they are just different sizes of Banzai Bills. Bullet Bills have arms and only eyes but Banzai Bills have the full face. So in my opinion, they're just of differing sizes. MarioComix 01:25, 28 December 2011 (EST)
- Not an opinion a fact. They are Banzai Bills, and they are different sizes

Ghastly Glider- 5,000 coins!?
The article states that the Beast Glider (Ghastly Glider) is unlockable by obtaining 5,000 coins. IT'S WRONG. The Prima guide states that all kart bodies, tires and gliders (with the exeption of the Gold ones) are unlocked randomly by reaching certain amounts of total coins. It HAS to be fixed. -Shroom64
- your wrong. the ghastly glider is unlocked after 5000 coins ONLY. all the others except gold are unlocked randomly. so your wrong. Mastergiygas 15:42, 1 January 2012 (EST)
- Yeah, I got the Ghastly Glider after I got 5000 coins too. The Prima Strategy guild is actually the wrong thing here. Tails777 Talk to me!
I unlocked it at 4500 coins though; after I unlocked one part via Streetpass. Refer to my ideas in the above section about the Beast/Ghastly Glider. MarioComix 20:13, 1 January 2012 (EST)
- Solution!!! If you don't tag anyone via Streetpass, you'll get it at 5,000 coins only. Therefore if you DO tag someone, you'll get some of their stats, giving you a chance to unlock the Beast Glider. Mario102300
Oh sorry! If that's true... another reason the guides are unreliable! It does not mention this in the Secret Gliders section, nor does the secrets checklist, on Beast Glider it says "Collect coins from Grand Prix cups" not "Collect 5,000 coins from Grand Prix cups." Everything else is right though... I think. Another "Hey look, there is a ? Pokemon in Mt. Silver at late night and early morning!" Whatever...

Usage of data?
I've been following the Stat Boosts table closely since the game was released, including the changes brought about after the Prima guide was released. I was wondering what the copyright of this data might be? As far as I can see it nothing was ripped from the game data. Some data was derived from bars displayed on the game screen and in the book, but the likelihood of the data in the table being exactly how it is represented inside the game seems remote for me. As a full disclaimer, I would like to release an app featuring this data, for iOS and Android to start with. Any thoughts? Gingerbeardman 11:42, 19 January 2012 (EST)

Staff Ghosts
I recently added a section which displays the game's staff ghosts, but right now it's lacking what characters and kart combos are being used for each staff ghost. If possible, I was hoping that players who own the game can contribute by keeping track of each staff ghost, and then input the data onto the tables. Do keep note that there are two staff ghost tables; one for the Normal Staff Ghosts; the other for the Expert Staff Ghosts. M&SG (talk) 08:45, 22 January 2012 (EST)
I have the game, so tommorow I can start adding staff ghost data to the tables. But I don't think it will be easy. If I remember correctly the game states combos after the race or something. Nevertheless I think the Prima guide's "Kart of Champions" for Time Trials matches the Expert Staff Ghost characters and karts. (Ex. For SNES Rainbow Road: Lakitu + Cloud Nine + Roller Wheels + Paraglider = Expert Staff Ghost AND Kart of Champions. -'Shroom64: The Mushroomeditor

I was on the glitch-page of the game and I saw: "Graphical Glitch". The fact that Shy Guy and Lakitu (And others, too!) have different sprites is probably not a mistake. Why would those sprites been made anyway? ~ Qyzxf (talk)

Rival System?
I have noticed that when I play a grand prix with a certain character, certain other characters are always present and start at a very high position in the starting race, and continue to do well and have strong AI during the races. More telling than this is the fact that these characters usually have something to do with the character I am playing as. I am beginning to think that this is deliberate in some way. Has anyone else noticed this? For example, I play primarily with Princess Daisy. Every grand prix I play, without fail, Princess Peach starts out in first place, and Wario also appears. One of them will do well in the Grand Prix, and the other will be a strong contender, yet they both appear every time. I'll list a few examples I've noticed.
Daisy: Peach, Wario
Luigi: Mario, Daisy
Rosalina: Peach, Honey Queen
Mario: Bowser, Metal Mario
Has anyone else noticed this? Could this be a rival system? --PionpiMii 01:22, 1 February 2012 (EST)
Yes I have noticed. It could be a rival system because the same happens in battle mode. Tails777 Talk to me!
- There definitely is a rival system in this game. The first two opponents are always two certain characters if you play by yourself. I think we should put that somewhere. Ray Trace(T|C)

The rival system is different from Mario Kart 64 though. 2 certain characters are almost always in for the character you chose, but they're not always in second and third. I played it using a Mii and only Metal Mario was close behind me and Bowser wasn't. We should also include that the rival system is different from Mario Kart 64. Tails777 Talk to me!
I think one for Metal Mario is Wiggler. He got second in a recent Grand Prix I palyed, only after me. I was then playing as Metal Mario, so it could be that Wiggler is one of Metal Mario's "rivals". But I don't remember the second... -'Shroom64: The Mushroomeditor
A good way to check out all the character's rivals is go to battle mode and keep chosing each character at least 3 times. Each time the same 2 character repeatedly appear for a certain character. Tails777 Talk to me!

I think that the Stability and Drift stats don't exist.
Today, a few hours ago, I tested: Shy Guy + Soda Jet + Sponge Tires + Paraglider VS Shy Guy + Soda Jet + Slim + Paraglider. Both combination were compared on SNES Mario Circuit 2 on the first 3 turns. I noticed that despite that both tires share the same Speed, Off-Road and Drift, I drift sharper with the Slim tires than the Sponge Tires. After that, I tested Slim VS Wood while keeping all other selections the same. I drifted sharper with the Wood tires than the Slim tires, simply because the Wood tires have lower Speed. This totally provides that how sharp you drift in MK7 depends on your Speed and Handling (the lower the Speed and the higher the Handling, the sharper you drift) and that the Drift stat does NOT exist in this game at all. Same goes to MK8 too, as I noticed that I drift sharper with lower Speed and higher Handling. Stability doesn't seem to affect anything in my opinion, every vehicle looks perfectly stable, no matter what you choose. I KNOW some bodies look worse with different tires but in MK8, we have some tires and bodies from MK7 back, like the Monster tires, yet some bodies like the B Dasher look exactly the same as in MK7 in appearance. This is the biggest reason why I think the Stability stat doesn't exists. So overall, I think the Stability and Drift stats don't exist at all and most people were too lazy to find out if they TRULY exist. But I found out the truth and I want to see who agrees with me or not. Sarantis (talk) 14:42, 24 November 2015 (EST)
- I think you're not looking at the correct spot, since karts don't really show their stability when they're drifting on dry land, and stability doesn't influence how sharp a drift is. I view stability as how much your kart tilts when drifting. Try testing the drifts underwater; karts on Monster Tires tilt way more than those on roller tires, if I recall correctly, so I think it might be harder to swerve around, especially underwater. Can't say what drifts do, but I think I know where stability comes in. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 02:09, 25 November 2015 (EST)
- The Drift stat definitely doesn't exists in MK7, since like I said before, how sharp your drift is depends on your speed and handling (the lower the speed and the higher the handling, the sharper you'll drift). And where does the stability stat come from? Sarantis (talk) 07:46, 25 November 2015 (EST)
- EDIT: Just done the tests for sure on Wario Shipyard underwater, yet I see tires with different stability tilting the same. Again, I still don't think that the stability and drift stats exist in MK7. Tilting definitely has to do with handling, as the higher the handling, the better you tilt. - Those stats are in the PRIMA guide, in the "Characters" and "Kart Assembly" sections, so they are official. The problem is that there is likely a translation mistake, as the effect of stability has nothing to do with actual stability, according to many reports it has to do with steering. By the way, your test is probably flawed, as there is likely more than one factor that affects how tight you turn, you should have chosen instead the same vehicle setup but two different characters such as Peach and Toad that have the same Handling but different Drift and you should have tested the angular velocity while drifting (time needed to complete a 360° turn).--Mister Wu (talk) 10:41, 25 November 2015 (EST)
- In the end, the in-game stats have been discovered; indeed the Stability and Drift stats exist, but their actual name is TireFeeling and DriftStart, with the latter having only a single in-game stat, OuterSlip. The name was effectively misleading, as in Mario Kart Wii Drift was mostly proportional to the angular velocity while drifting, while Stability seems more on point.--Mister Wu (talk) 17:58, 6 November 2016 (EST)

- EDIT: Just done the tests for sure on Wario Shipyard underwater, yet I see tires with different stability tilting the same. Again, I still don't think that the stability and drift stats exist in MK7. Tilting definitely has to do with handling, as the higher the handling, the better you tilt. Sarantis (talk) 09:06, 25 November 2015 (EST)
Tournaments?
OK I don't know where to post this but I had this idea: Mario Kart WII had "tournaments" going on, but somewhere in 2014 they quitted with those tournaments. And in Mario Kart 7, you can create "Communities", in which you can race with others who got the code of your community. I wondered if someone (I don't know who) could organize a tournament or championship, which means someone makes a community and shares the code with anyone who wants to join. The tournament or community lasts for exactly a week after it has been created. Whoever has the most points, would win pride and fame for Mario Kart 7! (or something else I dunno) Couldn't they organize some championships? Or are there already tournaments in the form of communities??? Platypus (talk) 15:02, 29 May 2016 (EST)
Warning sound continues beeping
To do this, go to any course where you can fall down. You will need to continue to race until a racer gets a Spiny Shell. When a racer gets a Spiny Shell, continue racing until you hear a warning sound. When heard, fall off the course. The Spiny Shell will continue to go around to course, but the warning sound will continue to play. 108.6.253.32 (talk)
Water physics are different between third-person view and first-person view.
Something strange I found while playing TT on Rosalina's Ice World. I wanted to see how much time is needed to complete 3 laps by only holding A. The ghost got saved because I never played TT on this track before. Then I decided to do it again, but in first-person view this time. As soon as I reached the underwater section, me and my ghost started taking different routes! I dunno what gets changed exactly, but this is a thing. I'm adding this to the Wiki right now, along with several other well-known trivias. - GoldMario777
- Being perfectly consistent in Time Trials is pretty much impossible, furthermore you added no visual proof of what you said, so until you add the proof, this consideration about water physics has to be removed.--Mister Wu (talk) 07:18, 9 July 2016 (EDT)
I'm sure I was perfectly consistent, I did it twice with both third-person view and first-person view, the only input being A held down, from start to end (I have gyro-controls off), and I got the exact same time between runs that use the same view. I'm going to work on the video proof soon. - GoldMario777
Okay, so while making the video proof (you can watch it here[4]), I figured out I was wrong, water physics aren't different between view modes, but Rosalina's Ice World's ice ramp's physics does. It may be caused by a shrink of the hitbox in first-person view, but I doubt it since the runs would have desynced right at the beginning if it was the case. - GoldMario777
- I did a quick look, and that's definitely interesting. I think you should check how much reproducible the test is doing more iterations without changing from first person view to third person view and vice versa - in Mario Kart 8 too collisions in the broadest sense, including interactions with non-flat surfaces, can have some bugs, but at the moment I didn't test that aspect much. One of those bugs is affecting GCN Yoshi Circuit, in the Piranha Plants section, and results in the vehicle sometimes not jumping despite taking a small ramp because in the matter of a single frame it becomes parallel to the surface - if you look at the video frame by frame you clearly see the bug. Since the MK8 engine appears to be based in part on the MK7 engine, I think we must first ensure that one of those collisions bugs isn't happening.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:19, 9 July 2016 (EDT)
Wario's Third Rival
Wario, in fact, as a third rival. And this rival is Donkey Kong.
When a CPU Donkey Kong occasionally appears if the player is Wario, he always start in third place.

- Third rival refers to the character present when the unlockable rival isn’t unlocked. It’s not referring to a character who occasionally starts in the third place position. Since Wario doesn’t have an unlockable rival, he can’t have a rival who replaces a locked character. Tails777 Talk to me!08:35, 2 October 2017 (EDT)
No I mean the third rival always start in third place if present. For example if Mario third rival Peach occasionally appears when Metal Mario is unlocked, she will always starts in third place right? Then if Donkey Kong occassionally appears is the player is Wario he will always start in third place. Despite his main rivals are starting characters, Wario has a third rival.

- The rivals are the characters who are always present. Characters who are occasionally in the third spot are not considered rivals. Also, please remember to sign your comments. Tails777 Talk to me!17:57, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

- I haven't truly noticed this when I personally play the game. But once again, the "third rival" term you're using and the one the article is using is already vastly different. I personally don't believe that occasional rivals are anything to really mention. If each character had a third rival that always appeared, that'd be different, but if it's occasional, it's not really worth mentioning. So in the case of Wario's third rival, it's not who starts in the third position, it's the character who takes the place of the currently locked rival for that character. Tails777 Talk to me!
Starting Parts
Unlocking Criteria : The only parts that are already unlocked are the Standard kart, the Standard tires, the Super Glider, and four random parts.
"four random parts" should be remplaced by "the Birthday Girl, the Bolt Buggy, the Monster tires and the Roller tires."
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.46.214.18 (talk).
- That may be what you got. Have you restarted multiple times and they all got the same result? 17:20, 1 June 2018 (EDT)
Yes, I restarted three times and I swear I got those aforementioned parts at start over and over again so I say it's not four random parts.
Mario Kart Tour
Can we mention Mario Kart Tour in this article? Mario Kart Tour is heavily based on this game, and I think it should be at least included in the "References in later games" section. --Jacklavin (talk) 11:34, May 23, 2020 (EDT)
I found some trivia
The game has the Netherlands Antilles for online play, even though this country has been dissolved over a year before the game's release. --LucianoTheWindowsFan (talk) 11:56, February 21, 2021 (EST)
Typo in one of the staff ghost names
The expert staff ghost for DS Waluigi Pinball is named Nin★Nshhr, and not Nin★Nahhr like it currently says in the article (it's with an 's' instead of an 'a'). Could anyone fix this? --B squo (talk) 15:14, July 3, 2021 (EDT)
