Template:Species-infobox Cats are major entities appearing in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, more precisely in the addition Bowser's Fury. They can be seen on most of the various islands composing Lake Lapcat, an archipelago totally dedicated to them. They exist in five different colors: green, reddish pink, blue, black and calico, each of them except the last one making reference to a specific character's Cat form color: respectively Luigi, Peach (altough the color is not totally the same), Toad and Rosalina.

During their living, cats have two very distinct states: normal and fury. They change of state depending on if Fury Bowser is active or inactive. Normally, cats are friendly and sometimes even caress themselves to Mario, or they are just relaxing and grooming. However, when Lake Lapcat is under the chaos of Fury Bowser, cats become also fury and mutate from their normal phase seen normally when the kingdom is calm. This appears to be a side effect of Fury Bowser. During this state, every cat become black with red eyes and ears, along with a red aura, with no expectation. Moreover, along with getting impacted physically, this state makes them become nasty and aggressive. When Mario comes near one of them, it will not hesitate to lock on to him and dash forward in his direction , similarly to how Fish Bones function from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

According to the trailer, there exists a bigger variation of a calico cat. Strangely, a calico cat is only seen big, whereas other colors are only seen small. It seems like the big calico cat is a specific character as it can be seen at the same place on multiple screenshots.
