The 'Shroom Spotlight

Hello readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.

Welcome to June's edition of Spotlight. Current world events mean that many of us are stuck inside at the moment, hopefully finding ways to enjoy ourselves, whether through movies, or more likely games. However, with so many of us indoors at the moment, something great that you could do with your time is contribute to this month's edition of Spotlight.

We are currently on a roll with getting articles improved, as almost everything was completed this time around, and if it wasn't completed, it was worked on and improved in some way. Hopefully we can keep the steam going, especially as we start getting into the summer months and lockdowns around the globe start easing, meaning many of us may start returning to schools or work, or at the very least outside.

Moving onto what we did well last month, The Mansion (talk) created Basic Training (challenge), and TheFlameChomp (talk) vastly improved the layout section for the Yoshi's Story level Lots O'Fish, so now instead of lots of fish, there's lots of information! Thank you, I'm here all year and don't need to be shown the door. Moving onto our other focuses, Toadette the Achiever (talk) added the missing source for Rosalina, Drew sux (talk) added some gameplay images for Patty (Dragon Quest), and EDShoot (talk) improved the size of File:PM3DS nsmbw grassland.png. Although the quality on this image still is not great, as it's the only available image of that screenshot, it's the best we're getting, and hence the tag has been removed. But even though Machine Made was not fully completed, Baby Luigi (talk) cleaned out its trivia section, while Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) added some additional information for the article

And now onto this month's focuses:

Article Category Focuses
Kamek's Curse
Wanted article
For all of the things to have happened this year, I've been hit by Kamek's Curse. To help lift me from the curse, all you have to do is create a page for this route in Super Mario Party.
Chomp Ruins
Rewrite required
We certainly like layout sections for Spotlight, but this time it's not adding information, it's improving it. The layout for this section is littered with tense and grammar issues, and it's very stop-start due to the amount of full stops in it. The article has practically no flow whatsoever, and is in desperate need of cleaning up.
Pipeline Boom Lagoon
Rewrite and expansion required
Considering the fact that this level contains different enemies from the course it's a redesign of, the current layout section just doesn't cut it. It also feels lazy to me to just write about how it is nearly the same, especially as the Special levels for Super Mario 3D Land have their own layouts written out, even when it's based off of another level.
River Piranha Plant
Citation needed
This is not something we've really done before on Spotlight, and admittedly I had tried to avoid it beforehand, but let's test it out and see what happens. We have a Korean name for this enemy in the 'Names in other languages' section, but no source. Perhaps someone familiar with the language - or even manages to have a Korean guidebook where this enemy is named - could help out.
Gold Lakitu
Articles that need more images
We could do with some more coins, but this article needs more images. Specifically, we're looking for a sprite from New Super Mario Bros. 2 and an image of the Gold Lakitu from Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World.
File:Sluggers Tornado Swing.jpg
Image quality requested
As a Brit, I don't think I can actually play Super Mario Sluggers, at least not a physical version. But with sharper images, I can at least gaze at the Tornado Swing. As this is Luigi's special move, obviously he needs to be in the picture, but don't feel like Bowser has to be the pitcher if you fancy another one.

Now just before I leave you, I'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently nineteen that need to be implemented, one of which dating back to 2015, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. I would also like to briefly highlight the trivia section on New Super Mario Bros. Wii, although it doesn't have a trivia tag on it, it is still fairly long and could do with some parts being moved or removed.

Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact myself on my wiki talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
