Images[edit]

Hello, Drew sux. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, Drew sux. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. A description of the image subject (parameter 1) should always be included, even if it's just a couple words. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

{{uncategorized}} must be replaced with an appropriate category (so for your recent uploads, you add Category:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Images), as explained above. If you're using {{aboutfile}}, the parameters you're not using (like "5=Other versions (use file link)") need to be removed. Also, please remember to remove unused parameters (So for example, if |5= is blank, it should be removed). Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 19:44, October 19, 2019 (EDT)

Duplicate links[edit]

There's no need to add several links to the same page back-to-back like what you did in your recent edits. If it's already been linked, it's redundant to add several more right after it, so please avoid that. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:32, 27 January 2019 (EST)

Please stop needlessly adding duplicate links on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Release dates[edit]

We don't update infoboxes on game releases until after the game is completely released, as in the final release date in some region. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:12, May 22, 2019 (EDT)

Scoot Bloop[edit]

If you cut out the map sprite from the initial image, can you reupload it separately? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:52, October 16, 2019 (EDT)

If you don't do this, I will revert it, as it's important to show that the map sprites additionally exist. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:46, October 25, 2019 (EDT)

Order in file titles[edit]

While personally, I prefer the "game before the subject" order in file titles, it's not necessary. In fact, last I checked, it was against the rules to move files if their titles are already descriptive enough. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:27, October 18, 2019 (EDT)

Pink / Light Blue Yoshi sprites[edit]

Could you please source the specific spritesheet? You said on Discord you "finished these recolors", what did you mean by that? Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:00, October 19, 2019 (EDT)

The spritesheet doesn't have the specific sprites you uploaded, which brings me to the next question I asked above. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:19, October 19, 2019 (EDT)
You could just reply here.
"i took the colors from the yoshis on the bottom row of that sprite sheet and replaced the colors on the idle green yoshi" Yeah don't do that. They need to be the exact sprite from the game, not modified like that, sorry (Not only that, the light blue colours aren't exactly the same between the spritesheet and upload). Characters Emblems[edit]

Hey! Right now I'm on vacation but you can find all the resources in: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AFnrH%5Fv8JCSD7p4&id=5E5B73A5FC2149BD%2110797&cid=5E5B73A5FC2149BD

However, I preferred the cup images for the characters profiles because the Emblems look kind of grey. I figured that since it was only Pauline the one not to have a cup of her own it'll be alright but since Pink gold Peach is in the same boat it'll be necessary to reconsider. Still I don't like the change though. GamblerMario (talk) 19:05, November 21, 2019 (EST)

Italics[edit]

Remember to italicise game titles when you're naming them anywhere, including in infoboxes, thanks. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:44, May 19, 2020 (EDT)

World of Nintendo[edit]

While the product line does include non-Mario figurines, since this is Mario Wiki, we should only be covering the Mario ones. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:33, June 11, 2020 (EDT)

I feel like this is debatable if I'm being completely honest. The amiibo gallery has the same train of thought, although this could be different because the amiibos have in-game function. I still think it looks better and more presentable to have all of them together. It's your call. Drew 06:41, June 11, 2020 (EDT)
That's for Smash Bros., whose characters we currently cover. We don't cover, say, the Splatoon- or Animal Crossing-series amiibo. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:48, June 11, 2020 (EDT)
? I don't understand, aren't these considered to all be in the same series of figures? with that logic, shouldn't we include the images? Drew 06:52, June 11, 2020 (EDT)
amiibo consist of different series (or lines). The amiibo gallery only covers the amiibo series corresponding to the game series we cover on the wiki (the Super Mario line, Smash Bros. line, Woolly World line etc.) Since our Smash coverage currently extends to all characters, their respective specialised Smash amiibo are listed as well. World of Nintendo includes figurines of non-Mario characters derived from their home series appearances, which isn't the same thing. To use another example, the Nintendo Selects line includes non-Mario games, but we only cover Mario-related games. Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:32, June 11, 2020 (EDT)
I see, thanks for clearing this up! Drew 07:34, June 11, 2020 (EDT)

Kong edit[edit]

Can you explain this edit? Rosalina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:45, June 17, 2020 (EDT)

My brother (who works at gamestop) said there was a new kong that was unreleased DKC6, I believed him so I let him edit the page. If I knew he was going to vandalize a wouldn't have let him do it. Sorry, won't happen agian. Drew 06:50, June 17, 2020 (EDT)
