What we have here is three separate species. The Spiked Fun Guy, who is considered to be Pokey in Japan, the Potted Spiked Fun Guy, and the "Spiked Rolling Kid." We can either split all three off, split just the Yoshi's Story one off, split just the Potted one off, split them all and merge the original with Pokey, or just leave it like it is.

As someone who isn't particularly familiar with Yoshi's Island games (and as someone who thinks that the article is rather lacking in information), could you tell me the difference between each enemy? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:18, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

Spiked Fun Guy (Yoshi's Island) is referred to as "Sanbo" (Cactus) in Japan. It's green, and has the same black-with white pupils eye designs that Pokeys often have. They're a typical spiked enemy in behavior. Potted ones are similar, but have a different name in all languages, and use their pots to hide in. The things from Yoshi's Story are not Pokeys at all, they look like Gummy Bear sea urchins with huge lips and dragon feet, and I think just sorta shuffle back and forth while facing the screen, like Goombas. I was going to say, why not turn this article into a disambiguation page, considering "Spiked Fun Guy" has also referred to a third enemy in a Yoshi game? Also to consider: while the Nintendo Power and Kanpeki guides list the potted variety separately, the Shogakukan guide doesn't, and it sort of seems like the difference between Seedy Sally/Short Fuse and Grinder/Ukiki. I'd liken it more to the difference between a Piranha Plant and a Piranha Plant (potted), which I consider to be notable enough to deserve separate articles. Seedy Sallies and Short Fuses were different from Grinders, I have no idea why they were merged. They should be re-split as well. We don't have Tiki Zing and Flaming Tiki Zing merged, for example. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:36, 29 August 2017 (CT)

@Doc: This was the proposal for the Seedy Sally and Short Fuse merge. It's just the monkey enemy picking up an object and using it as an obstacle, and Japanese guides don't distinguish the two. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:45, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

The English guide also has separate entries for Boo Balloon & Blue Boo and Nep-Enut & Submarine Nep-Enut, which are obvious mistakes. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:49, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

The Japanese guide also does not distinguish between Flopsy Fish and Piscatory Pete. And in the examples you noted, there were no differences in practice. The different monkeys have different attacks and I think palette. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:49, 29 August 2017 (CT)

There are separate entries for Flopsy Fish and Piscatory Pete. Really, the monkey is a somewhat complex enemy in the game that interacts with various objects/tools in its environment. At any rate, isn't this proposal about Spiked Fun Guy? LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:54, 29 August 2017 (EDT)
