Bōtsu refers to two separate enemies encountered in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3.

A fireball sprite.

The first appears as a ball of flame, and leaps from pits similar to Lava Bubbles.[1]

Sprite of a Kōmori Missile

The second appears as a projectile fired from a statue of a hawklike head, resembling a Mask Gate. The Bōtsu are shot in a straight line and cannot be stopped, unless they hit a wall. They also display a pair of tiny eyes, similar to Lava Bubbles from Super Mario World. Also similar to Lava Bubbles, the Bōtsu projectiles flash white, meaning they are incandescent.
