1 UP Heart

The 1-Up Heart basically performs the same function as the 1-Up Mushroom, that is, awarding one extra life to the player. However, unlike the mushroom, the 1-Up Heart will remain in one place until Mario grabs it, whereas the 1-Up Mushroom would slide away from Mario unless he could quickly catch it. But in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, the 1-Up Heart moves like the 1-Up Mushroom. The item appeared in the Game Boy video games Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. These 1-Up Hearts also appeared in mini-games in both games. 1-Up Hearts are very similar to 1-Up Mushrooms because of the graphics limitations that both games have black & white.
