Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[1] are both versions of the upcoming fourth installment of the Super Smash Bros. series being developed by Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai Games.[2] Each version may have different release dates due to the time that it will take to finish each one.[3]
Gameplay
It has been confirmed that the Final Smash and Footstool Jumping features are returning from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, while the "tripping" mechanism has been removed[4] and the game's Adventure Mode will be significantly different than the Subspace Emissary.[5] It has also been stated that players will be able to send customized fighters from one version to the other[6], that attack directions will be customizable[7], and that the pace of battles will be in between Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The game will not make use of the touch screen controls that both systems support during gameplay.
Playable characters
Due to limitations with the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, certain characters from the previous installments in the series might be cut from the rosters of both versions in order to keep them consistent.[3] So far, 24 characters have been confirmed, consisting of 19 veterans and 5 newcomers.
