Gallery talk:Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U

Do we really need every single screenshot from the official website? This is excessive. Once more characters are revealed, this page is going to be so bloated that it will take forever to load.

- They are all official press releases (minus the trailer screenshots), each unique and wonderful and amazing and most importantly useful in cases where there may be certain aspects of an image (including objects, stages or character moves) which may be a subject of future articles.

- So what if they're official press releases? No other page has such a barrage of screenshots of press releases from a single game. We aren't the Smash Bros. site either. Although I like the pictures, it's unnecessary to have every single screenshot from the site. Useful? Some of them will be, but most of these will have links only to this article, and besides, I believe we shouldn't put specific screenshots pertaining to this page either. That goes to the respective article. For instance, screenshots of Pokemon fall mainly into the Pokemon page, not in a game gallery.
- This page is even bigger than Brawl's gallery. Brawl is big because it has a big load of useful texture dumps and some images from the Subspace Emissary. I'd like more gameplay screenshots, but those would be the ones I'd take myself. But, my point is that while Brawl is reasonably big, this page is bloated, and I like some trimming. Having a gallery pertaining to a pre-released game that's bigger than another gallery pertaining to a more recent game (older games related to galleries, such as Mario Party 6, tend to be much smaller, so I can't compare) is incredible.
- Okay, fair enough I guess. I singled out the fact that they were "official press releases" to point out that the images weren't randomly screencapped from gameplay: they're each very different in terms of giving examples of stage usage, characters shown and positioning. In foresight, there's going to continue to be daily updates right up until, I predict, near the release of the game. And that would indeed total up to a lot of screenshots, perhaps double the content at present. We'd also have to consider the supporting artwork which is to be released in the future, and that most definitely be included in the gallery, whether you like it or not. And ya know, the other week I was contacted by the webmasters of two different sites: Chad McCanna of DK Vine and MagnuM of Bowser Shrine. Each asked me pretty much the exact same question: "How does MarioWiki obtain such high-resolution SSB4 screenshots?" So you see, we're probably the best public resource on the internet in terms of this gallery. But as reluctantly I want to think about working our way around too many images, it's something that we'd have to deal with eventually. So, perpetually would the main article have to be split into two articles: the 3DS and Wii U versions? It seems logical, as the games would be very different (different title, varying stages and playable characters). And we'd be bound by MarioWiki:New Articles Policy anyway. For consistency, could a similar thing be done for the gallery, where we split the Wii U and 3DS version screenshots? And as well as possibly removing images from the gallery which are also used elsewhere, this could effectively reduce the amount of content. I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion.

- I still think a page split will still make both gallery pages huge. We know nearly nothing about the game other than a select few characters and stages yet the page remains to be the largest in the wiki. Imagine when we obtain much more info on the game. The page will be unbearably huge, even with a split, and it will be the largest page on the wiki and many browsers will crash. Of course, as the game progresses, some of these will be moved to the beta elements section. Still, that is a long-term solution to this rapidly expanding page. This is barely scratching the surface on the potential of screen-shots the Super Smash Bros. game can produce. Ray Trace(T|C) 00:29, 17 September 2013 (EDT)

Organizing
We have alot of screenshots in the 3ds and wiiu subsections. Should we create another sub in both subsections for each character to keep it organized, or would that make it a bit to complex?
