List of implied entertainment

The List of Implied Entertainment is a list of games, television shows, and books that have not physically appeared in any form of media up to this point in time. Regardless of their lack of appearance, the implied entertainment have been mentioned at least once throughout the Mario series.

Cowpocalypse

Cowpocalypse is a running anime in the Nintendo world Francis may talk about.

At Fort Francis, in the dialogue between Peach and Francis, when he gives Peach a "Pink Princess" signed poster as a token of his affection, Peach has the dialogue option "I appreciate the thought..." When that option is selected, Peach will say, "I don't have time for that the universe is being destroyed" Francis will answer "Destroyed...? Oh I get it! You're so funny! You're talking about that farm anime, 'Cowpocalypse'! I'm hooked on it too! Different farming factions vying for control of a sword that can destroy the world? They use real swordsmen to advise the action scenes, so they're super realistic! Don't you love it when studios pay attention to important stuff like that?... When the DVD comes out, I'll buy it for you!"

Cutie-Pie Video Game

In Super Paper Mario, Mimi creates a video game about cute boys to raise funds for her cutie-pie stable.

Cyborg Wart

Cyborg Wart is a comic book mentioned in Super Paper Mario. Francis owns some issues of this comic book, though his collection of them seemingly is not complete as he longs for more. The main character of the comic is Wart, the final boss of Super Mario Bros. 2, who has not directly appeared in a Mario game in years. Not much is known about this comic book, as it is only given two mentions; however, it is revealed that at least forty-seven issues have been released so far, and it is currently ongoing in publication.

Diamond City Symphony

The Diamond City Symphony was mentioned in the description of the souvenir Taxi Sonata, where it was stated that they recorded the song.

Digibutter.nerr

Digibutter.nerr is a website full of other nerds like Francis, who visits the site often. It is apparently a forum filled with geeks and nerds of all sorts who seem to love butterflies. Francis declares that he shall take "hi-technicaaaal" pictures of Tippi, whom he calls Francine, and post them all over the forum. After he creates Tiptron, Francis mentions how Tiptron earned him the "Elite Nerr" status on digibutter.nerr's forums.

Its name comes from digital butterflies, which many of the forum members seem to enjoy. Its .nerr top-level domain seems to be derived from Francis's quirk of constantly saying "nerr," an impediment he may share with other members of Digibutter.nerr.

Trivia

• When selling Tiptron to Mario and friends, Francis incorrectly capitalizes the "d" in "digibutter.nerr."
• Shortly after release of the game, a real digibutter.nerr forum was created, where mostly discussion of Super Paper Mario is made.

Duel of 100: The Home Edition

Duel of 100: The Home Edition is a video game from Super Paper Mario popular in Sammer's Kingdom. The game is only mentioned once, during Tippi/Tiptron's tattle information about a Sammer Guy who likes to play as himself a lot. The title could be a reference to Extreme Makeover, Home Edition, a real-life TV show, as well as 300 (film). This, seeing the information of the Sammer Guy, might also be a reference to the game Kirby Superstar Ultra, where the mode 'Helper to Hero' was selectable. It was a game mode, when playing as one of the helpers of Kirby.

Feared Fungi Fighter

Feared Fungi Fighter is a book mentioned by a Toad in the library of Peach's Castle in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. According to the Toad, it states that the heroes can jump on enemies to damage them at the start of the battle, with the exception of spiked enemies (which would cause the hero to lose a HP).

Fire Emblem

Fire Emblem is a game by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. During the events of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a little Toad from Petalburg mentions that he enjoys playing Game Boy games, especially Fire Emblem.

Fungicide: The Epic Battle for the Mushroom Kingdom

Fungicide: The Epic Battle for the Mushroom Kingdom is a book mentioned by one of the Toads in Peach's Castle near the end of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. The book was written by Kylie Koopa and recounted the Shroob invasion. Mario, Luigi and their baby selves were apparently curious about how the book ended (most likely wondering if they had beaten the Shroobs), but the Toad scolded them for trying to find out without reading it themselves. The Toad then confessed that the last page had been torn out, so he couldn't tell how the book ended anyway.

Golden Oldies Station

The Golden Oldies Station is a radio station that can be heard in Koopa Village. This station plays the Super Mario World ending theme.

Happy Gardeners Monthly

Happy Gardeners Monthly is a magazine mentioned by a Toad in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. When Mario brings a seed and some fertilizer, the Gardener gets very excited, saying his buddies over at the HQ of this magazine will be thrilled and that he himself might even be in the next issue.

Harder Than Bedrawk: The Rawk Hawk Story

Harder Than Bedrawk: The Rawk Hawk Story is apparently a DVD starring the wrestler Rawk Hawk. Not much is known about it, except that Francis wants a copy.

Hot Hits Station

The Hot Hits Station is a radio station that can be heard in Koopa Village.

How Much is That Doggie in the Window?

"How Much is That Doggie in the Window?" is a 1950s novelty song mentioned by Frogfucius in the Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Nintendo Player's Guide. The song is an example of the type of music Frogfucius listened to as a tadpole. "How Much is That Doggie in the Window?" is also, in Frogfucius' opinion, an example of "real music," as opposed to the "nonsense" created by contemporary bands.

Ice Rose

Ice Rose is a book of poems written by the late King Croacus III, the third ruler of the Floro Sapien kingdom. The book was written in his 37th year of life.

Information Station

The Information Station is a radio station that can be heard in Koopa Village. This station will often announce some contests where Mario needs to take certain item to the Radio Contest Toad.

Inspector Gadget

Inspector Gadget is an animated television series that was produced by DIC Entertainment in the 1980's. It chronicles the adventures of Inspector Gadget as he foils plots devised by criminal organization MAD with help from his niece, Penny and their dog, Brain. In "Bats in the Basement", Luigi told Mario that he usually sleeps all day unless an Inspector Gadget marathon is on TV.

Kirby Story

Kirby Story is a movie advertised in the Yoshi Theater in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Absolutely nothing is known about the movie, although one can assume that it stars Kirby.

Koopa Kleats

The Koopa Kleats is a magazine mentioned very little in the game Super Paper Mario, in the Soopa Striker Catch Card. All that is known about it is that a Soopa Striker appears on the cover of the magazine, though it is possible that this magazine is about Koopas and soccer.

Koopa Kronicle

The Koopa Kronicle is a type of newspaper in the Mushroom Kingdom; it is only mentioned by Kylie Koopa during the course of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Kylie Koopa says that she works as the Koopa Kronicle's photographer and reporter; nothing else is revealed about the newspaper.

Koopa Quest

Koopa Quest is a new show in the Mushroom World mentioned in the credits of Mario Party Advance. In Mushbert's epilogue, it said that he now watches Koopa Quest instead of Toad Force V.

Larry Koopa: Zombie Heartbreaker

Larry Koopa: Zombie Heartbreaker is a fictional game mentioned in Super Paper Mario. Little is known about the game, aside from the fact that it stars Larry Koopa, the seventh and youngest Koopaling (not counting Bowser Jr.). It is supposed to be some sort of horror/survivor and dating sim at the same time. The only mention of the game is in Fort Francis (Chapter 3-4), on Francis's list of games and merchandise to buy.

The fact that the game has Larry Koopa as the main character might be a nod to the Leisure Suit Larry series.

Legend of Stafy

Legend of Stafy is a fictional movie advertised in Yoshi Theater in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. It may be based in the Japan-only game series of the same name.

M & L

M & L is a fictional movie advertised in Yoshi Theater in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. While no additional information about the film is revealed, there is a lot of speculation that it concerns Mario and Luigi. The logo has silhouettes of Mario and Luigi much like the Japanese logo of the game. The game's ending also shows the Yoshi Theater cheering after the credits, indicating a connection.

Mechanics Weekly

Mechanics Weekly is a magazine or newspaper published every week mentioned when tattle is used on Torque. The only known thing about the contents is that an article in it says that the tool on Torques back can do basically anything.

Mighty Mushroom Masters

Mighty Mushroom Masters is a book mentioned by a Toad in the library of Peach's Castle in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. According to the Toad, the book quotes: "Hitting monsters with hammers to enter battle may dizzify and paralyze them." (Baby Mario can use the hammer to whack an enemy to possibly make it dizzy).

Nishimaki

Nishimaki was mentioned in the description of the souvenir Dribble & Spitz in WarioWare: Twisted!, where it was stated that Dribble & Spitz was the highly anticipated debut song from Nishimaki.

On Golden Toad 2

On Golden Toad 2 is a film that is in production during the events of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Zip Toad is the star of the movie. Its name implies a that it is a sequel. It is likely a parody of the film On Golden Pond.

Paper Mario

Paper Mario is an RPG released in 2001 for the Nintendo 64. It was mentioned by a Toad in Petalburg who said that "Lady Bow is the cutest Boo OF ALL TIMES!".

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is an RPG released in 2004 for the Nintendo GameCube, and is the sequel to the game Paper Mario. It was mentioned by a Toad in Petalburg, who said that the ending made the game worthy to play through.

Pink Princess

Pink Princess is an anime mentioned by Francis in the game Super Paper Mario when he attempts to win Princess Peach over using Swoon.exe. He attempts to give her a Pink Princess Signed Poster from his inventory; according to him its origin was from a Pink Princess anime event. Notes about the item are that it is signed by the voice actress for the princess and the director, and that it has a layer over it to keep it from fading. Peach will return the poster if she doesn't like it. She will still return it if she does like it, as Francis suggests to her that he give it some backing board.

Revenge of Madzilla's Mom

Revenge of Madzilla's Mom is a monster movie that was assumedly filmed in Hollywood at some point. The movie was only briefly mentioned in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Dadzilla", while Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool were locked in the props garage. Mario found the head of Madzilla's mother in it, and Luigi recognized it from the aforementioned movie. Not much else is known about the movie, though the "Revenge" part of the title suggests that it is a sequel to another Madzilla's Mom movie.

Starship X-Naut

Starship X-Naut is a huge franchise of what would appear to revolve around a television program mentioned in Super Paper Mario. It is brought up many times in Fort Francis, although it is never mentioned outside of that area.

As stated above, the main aspect of Starship X-Naut is thought to be its television show, which is mentioned early in Fort Francis by a MeowMaid who stated that a baseball game in extra innings had delayed that day's episode of the show (and that she had changed the times set in the RecordoMeows to reflect the delay), which is one of Francis's many obsessions. In the same room, another MeowMaid mentions Starship X-Naut: Space Bloops, a seemingly Blooper-oriented videogame spin-off of the show known to be a space-combat simulator. Both of the SecuriMeows' quizzes (which are given to Mario and friends to gain access into Francis' private rooms) also mention Starship X-Naut, one of which revealing that it includes a comic series (whose comics Francis believes should never be taken out of their plastic sleeves) and the other mentioning Starship X-Naut "Series 3 collectible action figures", which Francis himself does not own to the greatest extent (although completing his collection of the figures is one of his many goals). Finally, Francis' unnamed, cat-like door's compatibility quiz to Princess Peach suggests that Francis is attracted to (or at least can relate to) people who have lost friends due to arguments based on the propulsion system of a spaceship featured on Starship X-Naut. Two optional references to Starship X-Naut can additionally be triggered by telling Mimi (disguised as Merlee during a Castle Bleck encounter) that Mario fears Francis (which would then result in Francis appearing and stating that, before his strange warp to the dark castle, he was watching Starship X-Naut in his Reclinatron 4500) and buying Tiptron from Francis after beating the game (at which Francis would state that he was willing to sell Tiptron for he was saving up for a rare comic book known only as Starship X-Naut Issue One, which cost at least 999 Coins).

As these are the only mentions of Starship X-Naut, much about the show is left to assumption. Based on its name, it is thought that Starship X-Naut stars (or prominently features) the Secret Society of the X-Nauts, the antagonists of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. (It is also undoubted that the show's name is a reference to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Nintendo's part.) It is unknown if Starship X-Naut has any affiliation with The Grodus Chronicles, another unseen Super Paper Mario show that is named similarly in that it holds another major Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door foe as its namesake, although it is likely that it does not.

Super Ultra Goomba Bros.

Super Ultra Goomba Bros. is an old TV show that Mimi likes to watch reruns of. This TV series is mentioned during the game Super Paper Mario, and nothing more than the title is revealed. The show's name may be a reference to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's also an obvious reference to the Super Mario Bros. game, or possibly The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

The Blubbening

The Blubbening is a TV show that Francis watches. It is mentioned in Super Paper Mario. It is known that this show's main character is Tubba Blubba and that this show is an anime. Francis especially likes the episode when Tubba Blubba battled a horde of robots. Not much is known about it, except for Francis' opinion that it got worse as the show progressed.

• As part of Francis's above-mentioned opinion, he says that Season 1 has better voice acting than the later seasons. This could be a reference to the anime Dragonball Z, as in the original dub, the first two sagas (out of 16) were dubbed by Ocean, and some fans think that Ocean does better voice-acting than FUNimation, the dubbing company that took over in the third saga.

The Flictionarian

The Flictionarian was a book written by the late Queen Croacus II, the second ruler of the Flora Kingdom. The book is a compilation of the Floro Sapien prehistory.

The Grodus Chronicles

The Grodus Chronicles is a TV show starring Grodus. It is aired in The Bitlands and possibly the Mushroom World and all the other areas around Flipside. It is unknown what the show is about and what the story is. The Grodus Chronicles is based on a novel of the same name by a writer from Flopside. The Grodus Chronicle's name is simply a manipulation of the novels and film entitled The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury.

The Mushroom Moon

The Mushroom Moon is a musical advertised in Mario Kart Wii on the Moonview Highway course. Not much is known about it, except it involves Peach, Yoshi, Mario, and obviously, The Moon. It probably involves Petey Piranha, who is seen climbing a building behind Peach, as well. It can be seen in theatres from March 21st until May 27th.

The Toad Warrior

The Toad Warrior is a film mentioned in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in Zip Toad's E-mail. Not much is known about this film besides the fact that Zip Toad has a line in the film: Hey, you are cool, but I am even cooler.

This movie seems to be a nod to the Real Life film Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, known simply as The Road Warrior in the United States. Predating Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was another Mario-related reference to The Road Warrior: a similarly-named episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is entitled "Toad Warriors".

Three Coins in the Fountain

Three Coins in the Fountain is a 1954 film that is about American girls visiting the Trevi Fountain. The film was mentioned in a pamphlet about the fountain in the game Mario is Missing!.

Toad Force V

Toad Force V, known to its fans as TFV, is an extremely popular television series in the Mushroom World. It was mentioned several times in Mario Party Advance. The series is about a robotic Toad named Jack and his partner, the heroine, Britney (who is more popular). Together, they fight against evil villains such as the Spore King and Toxic Toad Z.

In his adventure through Shroom City looking for Gaddgets, Mario had to do several Toad Force V-related quests such as looking for a Toad Force V DVD and trying to remember a certain bit of dialogue. Mario also met Mushbert, as Toad who knew and owned everything Toad Force V-related.

The series also has a line of action figures which a Paratroopa shopkeeper said "are almost always sold out". Lantern Ghost also runs a (presumably unofficial) Toad Force V fan club known as the TFV Fan Club; this club meets seemingly perpetually in the basement of Horror Condo.

Toad Force V may be a reference to Family Force V, a band in the real world. Or it could also reference to Titan Force V, the band of heroes in the American super robot parody show, Titan Maximum.

Toadstools of Terror

Toadstools of Terror is a book mentioned by a Toad in the library of Peach's Castle in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. According to the Toad, it states that if an enemy hits a hero from behind to start a battle, that hero won't be able to attack or dodge (until it is his turn), making him vulnerable to any enemies having a higher speed than him.

Tubebottom's Tome of Quotations

Tubebottom's Tome of Quotations is a book mentioned in Super Paper Mario. When the player goes to Yold Town after defeating the final boss and talks to Chaz, he will say that he wants to get his quotes into Tubebottom's Tome of Quotations.

Undervision

Undervision is a TV show implied by one of The Three Hags and a D-Man in Super Paper Mario. The D-Man stated that he's so busy that he doesn't have time to watch Undervision. It's also possible that the phrase refers to all the televised entertainment in the Underwhere or the medium it's broadcast onto, as its name is similar to television, which generally is a generalised term for the shows on television, or the television itself.

Wario

Wario is a fictional film advertised for (with a movie poster) at the Yoshi Theater in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. It presumably involves WarioWare, as the flier depicts nothing but Wario's eyes, nose, and mustache - an icon that often appears in the games. The picture closely resembles the Japanese box art of WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, so it might involve the plot of that game.

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune is a real-life word puzzle TV game show that is hosted by Pat Sajak in the United States. In Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit is it implied that Mario likes to watch it. In the future, Dr. Wily took control over it and renamed it Wheel of Misfortune.

Another spoof, also given the name of Wheel of Misfortune appeared in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "On Her Majesty's Sewer Service".

While looking through the Yellow Pages for a good fortune teller during the events of "Fortune Teller", one of the sections Mario skimmed through was "Wheel of Fortune".

Wheel of Fortune (or a spoof thereof) also appeared during King Koopa's flashback in the Super Mario World episode "Rock TV".

Vanna White, the co-host of Wheel of Fortune, has been spoofed twice throughout the Mario series. Her first spoof was Vampa White, who hosted the Wheel of Misfortune game in "On Her Majesty's Sewer Service". The second spoof is Vanna T. from Paper Mario. Vanna White herself even guest-starred as Roxanne in "Cyrano de Mario".

Worms of Outer Space

Worms of Outer Space is a comic book series. Little is known about it, except that Prince Hugo's Parrot claims to own a collection of issues, implying that he is a big fan of the series.
